« on: July 20, 2007, 12:30:53 pm »
Iv been trying to instal the original game disc, everything goes fine up until i go to start a mission?
It shows the vids at the start, goes to the options and all the other screens but when i click start it just goes back to windows and dispays this:

Unhandled Exception! in Version 1.00 Build 435
SFC3.exe caused an EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION in module d3d8.dll at 001B:6DA4BA39

I tryed a no-cd patch and this came up but it was doing the same before the patch!? My PC has got its spesifications and its V1.0
Dont know what to try next???

Do you have the DirectX 9 fix installed?
Starfleet Headquarters out.

Fleet Commodore, XenoCorp, ISC Fleet.

www.sfc3files.com

Look for the 534b patch.  Do not install the DX9 fix for the game if you install this patch.  The patch has the fix already.  If it continues, please reply to these boards.  We'll see what we can do.
The pen is truly mightier than the sword.  And considerably easier to write with.

Also, what OS are you using. Hopefully not MS Vista.

d3d8 errors are usually resolved by disabling the themes.

grab the 534b patch. altB certainly has a link for it.

browse to your SFC install directory.
right click the SFC3.exe and select properties
click the compatibility tab
tick the 'disable visual themes' option.

apply and ok that dialog and try playing sfc again.
