Normally, I would not speak of this publically, as it is a private matter. I have, however, recently received some advice that has encouraged me to discuss my model making methods with the community.
Now, most modders design a ship, then build it, then texture it and release it for HPs (or make thier own). Some models are released for a specific game, others are put out as pure meshes for community members to port over to specific games.
I do things a little differently. I have been known to work on as many as 20 designs at once, right now working on 5....4 Feds and one Romulan. Some people have found this curious, not only because it obviously takes me longer to release designs, but also because it is so different than most other modders out there.
Well, there is a reason I do it this way. I suffer from a condition called AADD, or Adult Attention Deficit Disorder. I have been plagued with this disorder for as long as I can remember, and it has a profound effect on anything I do, including modding.
When I work on a model, if I work on it for more than one hour straight I get fatigued, even tired. The only way I can focus is to change what I am doing....I can either take multiple micro breaks or I can move on to work on something else. If I create 5 or 6 designs at a time, this allows me to remain focused on all of them and complete them eventually....If I was only working on one at a time, I would never finish it.
I have always refused to take medication for my disorder. I dont like drugs....never have. Instead I modified how I work on things to get around this affliction, and it has worked for me pretty well over the years.
Just wanted to share this with those that are eager to see the designs released. Each and every design will get released, but like before they will probably be finished all at once and released en mass.
I am very fortunate to have this forum to work on and perfect my craft. The input I get here is invaluable. I wouldn't be at the level of skill I am at at present, with respect to modelling, if it wasnt for all of you. I just ask that you have the patience to stick it out...the models will be forthcoming, and I thank you all for your compliments, input, and of course interest.
