Anyone know what the option "Reset Case Open Status" refers to or what its used for? It appears as an option in the PC Health Status secton of the Award BIOS CMOS setup Utility on my new computer. Have had some weird startup failures and I'm trying to understand all the BIOS options to narrow the problem down.

Also, anyone know of a good site or forum for BIOS information, preferably Award brand?

I've had startup problems in the past.  My expiernce had a periphial, in this case an external hd, that for some reason would lock up my computer when it was turning on (still don't know why... it was sporadic at best).  I would first suggest you rule out everything else first before you go fiddlin w/ the bios.

In any case, the reset open case status... i want to say that its probably not being utilized in your comp... but then again i could just have the wrong idear in my head.

An option that some cases/comps have is a button that is depressed as long as the case is closed but when the case is opened that switch is triggered and the comp then halts at startup saying that you must reset that switch in bios before you can continue.  That is what that "Reset Case Open Status" is for most likely.

I think Firehawk is correct.  I know my Thermaltake Case has an alarm that can be turned on and off, for an open case. Might go to the board manufacturare, and look up the manual. It should list it there.
