The Forge - Fragmentation Effect
« on: July 12, 2007, 02:56:58 pm »
Slowly, a sleek silver hull slipped between the stars, naccells glowing as their emence power pushed the vessel through the blackness of the void.  Their hails and attempts at communication were fruitless, navigational charts completely innacurate, and worst of all: they wre alone as far as they knew.

Days of searching found nothing, but just as everyone aboard the ship was about to give up all hope, a faint transmission began to beep on the comm board.  "Atten-ion... All Fe--r---n vess--s.  Rall- po-nt at se-tor del-a thr-- s---n.  Mes----e Rep--ts"  Finally! They had found other survivors.  The ships naccells glowed ever brighter as they charged for warp speed.

Two days later, the ship dropped out of warp, its crew relieved at the sight of a planet, and the beginings of a Federation Starbase.  Little did they know, the same was happening in other locations in the quadrant, and the battle that was sure to follow over the little territory that surrounded them was going to be fierce.

Others, undoubtably... were not so lucky.

**************************************************************************

The Forge - Fragmentation Effect is the first in a series of "minicampaigns" hosted by Dynaverse.net and Xenocorp.

These campaigns are the pilot for our SQL based server kit, and will run over the course of a weekend.  This is the only notice that will be given of this, so make sure you read it:  This server is running on beta builds of our SQL server kit.  The schedule for the server (outlined below) is to give our developers much needed data and a field test of the latest build.  The bonus of this is, everyone gets a nice distraction for their weekend, should they choose to play.

This campaign is set to run from 8:00PM EST July 20th to 8:00PM EST July 23rd.

Each side will be given a copy of the map on Wednesday July 18th, which will show the locations of their planets and bases.  Special Victory Conditions will be unique to each side, and will not be revealed to the opposing force until the server has ended.

PVP
Since the server is short, PVP points will be awarded for the following:
BB - 10 points
CVA - 7 points
DN - 5 points
BCH - 2 points

PVP point totalls will go toward placement and advantage in the following campaign map.

Command and Control
Each side will have a base of 10 CnC points.  Up to 4 additional points (2 points per planet) can be gained by each side from the capture of a central resource planet (7,4 and 20,22).

Capital Ship values are as follows:
BB - 10 points
CVA - 6 points
DN - 4 points
BCH - 2 points

Should the control of the central resource planet change sides and leave a side with to much metal on, that side will need to drop down to their limit.

Fleeting Rules
Capital ships may not fleet together.  Fleets may consist of no more than one Capital ship and two other ships.  All fleet are required to have a CA Command Crusier if the fleet contains 3 ships.

Hex Ban
Disengagement - 20 turns
Destruction - 10 turns

"Fragmentation Ships"
Each side, along with their VCs will recieve several clues to the location of a secret hex, which if captured, will allow that side access to three preselected ships from the opposing team that can be directly assigned to their players.  If destroyed, these ships are lost forever.  This is a completely optional objective.

Now, that's the way to do it.  Make an event out of an SQL server test.  Good deal.

The first server will start in 2275 run to 2278.  The next will pick up in 2278 and run to 2281.  The last one will start in 2281 and end on 2284.

No, same as The Forge.  I rethought things last night, and we need a base line data set on stuff we know works.

A couple of issues

  - the supply docks don't seem to be working: when you click done no changes are applied (tried all four Coalition races)
  - all ships are free in the shipyards (or cost 5 or something) -- not sure if that was deliberate since it's just a 3-day server
  - chat isn't working

Just to kick your weekend off right  ;)

Forge Campaign OCI
http://www.dynaverse.net/oci/index.php/cfg,forgecamp.html

Current Settings
Wormholes/Stargates: Stargates only.  Stargates allow players to transport between the homeworlds of allied races.  WARNING: Due to the multiple variables involved in the gate process, there is a chance that it will fail.

Race transfers: Allied only.

Alliance RM:
Deadman

Coalition RM:
L.K.

Ships captured in PvP may be kept by the capturing player, and assigned by the admin.

-----------------

Supply dock is broken for sure, the ships was intentional (Bonus from the frustrated admin ;)).  Know about the chat server, but the last thing I really want to do at the moment is go and start tinkering with the IRC server to figure out what it is doing; need more coffee haha.

Edit: Apparently something is screwed up on my end with the SQL setup file.  Probably going to have to delete the entire database and start it over (20 minute process at the worst).

Right, so I think I fixed the supply dock.  Won't know till the server comes up.  For some reason, it is unable to create the channels on the IRC, much to my displeasure, as it means I will likely be over on Frigga kicking it around next.

Edit: Everything is fixed.  Had to up the cost of ships a little (It is in the 100s now), but all is working.   It started in 2273, but that doesn't matter so much lol.

Cool - everything seems to work, but here's a bit of a head-scratcher for you: the OCI shipyards are offering the ships available in 2263, not 2273!

Thanks for all the hard work!

Guys,

This is a test, and it's also Braxton's "getting familiar with Bonk's stuff" experience...so feel free to report *ANY* bugs or issues you see.

Remember, while it is a event featuring the Internet's Longest Running Persistant OP Campaign (The Forge) it's also a test of SQL and the fixes our Serverkit dev team have made.

Pay attention to economy shifts, prestige, everything.

Thanks! And wait till you see what we have in store... it's all finally coming to fruition.

Regards,

thanks braxton...frey!

stargates dont work properly...went to foldspace from the lyran hw to the klink hw and ended up 6 hexes nw of the klink hw...

the convoy escort mission needs to be yanked...you get stuck fighting your live ally if your flying with one...think this one is a known though...

That is a feature.  There is a 25% chance that the gate will fail ;)
