I just stumbled over the reference to SG3 coming active so I don't know all the races available. I have only flown Fed (a long, long, long time ago) and Mirak so if MiraKzinti  is there I would tend to throw my hat into that ring.

Ravenstar
aka Ch'nau
MiraKzinti Pilot

Love to have you, Ravenstar. And I too stumbled across that link to the SFC2.net but it said forbidden IP. IE wouldnt open the page. Wonder if I got banned by those slutty looking Orion Slave Chicks I posted... hehe.

Anyway, the races are standard F&E alliances, Federation, Klingon, Romulan, Gorn, ISC, Lyran, Hydran/Mirak(Share an interface, better vote on it: link on post #1 same thread here), and last but not least, the Tholians.

If SFC2.net ever comes back, you can get more details. Or is it just me that cant see it?

There are several technologies the Tholians have that are being adapted for use in EAW.

Most Tholian (excluding NeoTholian) have 2x Web Generators. The webs these create are best mimicked by using Tbombs. What better way to slow down your opponent than to toss a buncha bombs on em?

The larger tholian ships and most medium to large Neo Tholian ships (Neo Tholians dont arrive till the late era) have 1 or 2(mostly DN's) Web casters. These are weapons that have dual uses. Their damage table best represents a Ph4. And thats the weapon I have given them. But to simulate the 5 points of arming energy required to make the Web Caster mimick EAW's Ph4 damage equivalancy, I have installed the Ph4's only on a heavy weapon hardpoint. This subtracts 2 from the phaser capacitor. When you fire it, it drops another 2 points. This is therefore the best way to solve the problem and uses quite a different twist on how that weapon works.

These 2x innovations are designed to give the Tholians flavor and at the same time differentiate them from other races. The rest of their design has been adapted from SSD schematics and are for the most part a faithful translation. A few points of interest about tholians... Tholians employ very strong universal shielding from shields 1-6. They only use one primary hull type only (till the Neo Tholians arrive in the late era). It looks like a 3x finned dart. This single ship hull is roughly the size of any other races frigate/destroyer, about equal in capability and exceptional in manuevering.  TOS Tholians lacked any industrial capability other than being able to construct these basic hull types. So in order to create larger ships, the Tholians welded two or more hulls together. These ships created larger class types allowing heavier armament, engines, shielding, and shuttle bay launch rates, at the expense of poorer handling and structural fragility (less HET%).

I'm sure you will all need to try them out in battle before the server starts to get an idea for them and be able to voice any contructive critizisms, but after exhaustive testing, I think they are very unique and capable, although will be difficult to win with when facing either a klink or rom in a PvP.

Just as DOE concludes, I should have the model pack download and shiplist ready for you all to try.

Ok so we have 25 players including me....

Maybe I can redo the map and make it smaller? Revise the VC's to make it more cozy, would kill the strategic element, but with so few players, I'd have no choice. This server was designed from the get go for AOTK player numbers. I had no idea so may werent interested/moved on/whatever...

Since there are 9 playable races and only 25 players, thats barely 3x per race...

I don't think 25 is a very accurate number, Diz. Forum post responses are very unreliable in this regard.

I deny that the SPQR fleet has removed the Fed G-Racks to replace them with the G-Strings. Please, don't sell them to the Gorns ... that tutu already gives me nightmares!
