internet speed
« on: July 08, 2007, 06:43:18 pm »
my problem is my internet speed (or connection) is slow, i got around 37 gig of free space on the hd and my connection is slow.

i transfered my 200 gig hd on this com to transfer some cartoon to it and during that time the connection was good, faster.

i was looking at the OP of old Robot anime and it load fast and fully.

now that i put back my HD on my com, i get  a slow connection to the net.

my com is not use for the internet since the router is not configure for this isp.

so i keep wondering why is the connection fast when i got my other 200 gig HD connected to this com but when its not the connection is slow?

could be a few things....

a. Heavy fragmentation on the old drive. Run Defrag
b. old drive is faulty causing sluggish responsiveness. Run Chksdk in repair mode.
c. Spyware on drive. Old drive might be infected with some spyware that eats up your bandwidth when its on...download Spybot Search and destroy (its free) http://www.safer-networking.org/   Update and run it. Dont forget to Immunize afteward. You'd be surprised how much crap gets on machines.

Theres a start let me know what you find.

Its a small file you can probably download it. Me emailing it will be the same thing because you have to retrieve it.

But if you like I will just let me know what email to send it too.

Did you try the chkdsk and defrag?
