*UPDATE* TOS Defiant Released!
« on: April 28, 2007, 09:10:28 pm »
OK, I have to admit, while I have had several ideas of how I would do it, I was inspired to finally follow through by Gek's wonderful work. Polycount: 5680

Hey, you know, I like the deflector assembly.  It's more TOS.  Extremely good work.  :-D
The pen is truly mightier than the sword.  And considerably easier to write with.

Yeap, captures the TOS feel quite well. Looks like it could be something from "Star Trek New Voyages".
If Romulans aren't cowards, then why do they taste like chicken?

I really like it. If i could change one thing though it would be to get rid of the border around the yellow on the red decal stripe. I however would not change anything else, the design is sweet and the textures look great.. great job man.

Now thats really a really lovely model .  .  I just got Geks version and I cant wait to have this one either!

but . . since we know that in this period the Defiant was a Constitution class cruiser . .  how about renaming her to Dauntless? ...

Or the Balo, after the fleet class sub. She's meant to be an escort, after all.

Was this ship completed? Looks nice from here... only change(s) I'd suggest are a TOS bridge module and elliminating the 'step' in the underside. But she looks fantastic so far- and I'd say a good contender for a Federation PF if one were to ever make them.

Interesting...

Just an observation, wouldn;t the 17 look better if it was angled to fit the two darker hull plates it now currently cuts arcoss them diagonally?

Have the 1 in the first plate and the 7 in the other sized to barely fit... Just my opinion. :)

I may be able to release this by the end of the week. I have added some additional markings. I have some kill signs and in the back I have red "blood stripes" signifiying how many battles the ship has engaged in. The particular ship has been in two battles and destroyed three enemy ships. Here are some updated shots:

You can download the completed version of the TOS Defiant here:
(you will have to copy and paste the URL into your browser to get the link to work)

http://www.freewebs.com/interstellarmachine/tosdefiant.zip

The zip contains alternate marking designs.

Greenvalve, if you don't mind, I would like it posted on SFC3files if possible.
