I've heard others say this same thing has happened, but happened to me for the first time tonight...
Right at the start of the mission my ally (A Hydran BAR) fired at me before my shields were up.
Checking on my repair panel to check damage then showed minimum load for parts...
It was Met_ED10PatrolEnemy.
May take a look at it...

Come to think of it, I believe it's happened to me, but I didn't twig at the time that it was "friendly" fire

I get it all the time. The order is wrong. The mission should ally you before it spawns you. I've had gatlings fire at my ship and a half second later the alliances are established in the mission and the offending AI doesnt even so much as offer an apology. But I dont think I've ever lost a hardpoint or any power from this kinda bug attack.

I haven't had that

Have blown up (solo) right at the mission start- both times in an asteroid field.
Based on some close calls at the start of other asteroid filed missions I thin one or two of them may start you off moving with a roid a few meters in front of you.

Of course I didn't do anything useful like grab the mission name or anything.

What I'm more concerned of are those missions where you wing with someone, mission loads, and your wing is a targetable ship that you can fire on.

The other night when I was winging with a Lyran in an dread, we got one of those missions. Killed the AI, then when I was leaving the map, he shot a phaser up my butt in good humor, and I swung around, shot my drones, then he nearly killed me with his ESGs.

Down to 4 power, no systems online. Man I was laughing my ass off.

Yea, Ive always been a bit concerned about those asteroid missions.. I come in game at speed 12 just <7 away from a big rock in front of me at times. It can be a bit disturbing if you at times have to HET or emergency stop first thing to avoid the rock..
Ive never personally experienced the wings not showing up as allies though.. Id think that would more or less be caused by a connection error when connecting over a prob with the mission scripts.
