Only thing i will say is this:

The model has Detail built in the textures should be used to draw some attention to those parts, usually be contrast and colour. The other things textures do is draw attention to the areas you want it at, but putting details in that area. Everywhere else keep it simple so they look at the places you want them to.
People always said they wanted the government to listen to them and now the government is listening, taking notes and names...and coming to see you soon!

Alright, so I toned down the random panels, and just went for detail density in certain places.

I am actually rather pleased with it. The overall color scheme i have in mind prevents me from using contrasting colors the way i usually do, but I am hoping that the composition and density will make up for it, in essence creating "contrast" Also getting rid of most of the "bits" lets the rusting panels through much better giving a utilitarian look to it.

There you go!

I also like how you can jsut switch the side flags and you have a completely different fleet, that is a nice concept.

I think you have the right idea now on where you are going with the textures.

Thanks GAFY. I am much more pleased with these textures.
The banner is a great thing for reasons two fold: (1) if i get frustrated with the body textures, i just make another banner. (2) it does change fleets around left and right, which really feeds this races feudal nature.

Who can place these banners, btw.

Also you notice I started on the temple segment. The idea is that the ship will actually land on the surface of a planet, and serve as a cathedral for the people of that subject race instilling a religion-based crowd-control system. That's why there is text emblazoned on various parts of the ship. Serves as billboard-like propaganda.

I just adore the level of detail, but not only detail - the level of thought and consideration that has gone into this!
While most of us would have been happy with your first round of textures, the current ones that you're working through are astonishing.

Fantastic work, I love it.

See, but the thing is, I wouldn't have been happy with it.

I think the spikes will pull away from the church look you were thinking about when the thing lands. I do like the smaller banners though makes you see the columns more.

Well, see, its not really the good kind of church. Less mom and pop at service and more spanish inquisition, Oppressive and cruel indeed.

I'm getting a Necromunger(sp?) vibe from this (from 'Chronicles of Riddick') - coolness. "Take me to the threshold! THRESHOLD!" hehe

Very cool film, smiley. Glad it reminds you of it.

Dropped the spikes, wasn't a fan.
Might put them back on as addons for special fleets or something -=shrug=-

Anyways - Back at it:

I like it better w/out the spikes, as well. Might try different types of domes? One could be a sensor dome, another an impulse crystal...
