I like it!
Federation-style DNs are great, in my opinion - but there is one problem - and I see it everywhere: The grille on the center nacelle isn't symmetrical - one side is lit while the other isn't

Yeah, but even the original Federation-class dreadnought was like that. This one is "correct" with a right nacelle used for the center warp.

I'm surprised to say that Rod's right- looked it up even in the starfleet technical manual that I have from the 60s or so.

Are the nacelle's WZs? I've seen them before and the model seems to resemble WZ's texture.

Your ship also have a rear photon launcher?

Hey everyone.

I'm the one that did the kitbash.  Those were WIP renders.  At the time I didn't understand that Don didn't want a 3rd warp engine, so the fact that one side is lit and the other isn't is actually accidental on my part.

The final mesh doesn't have the 3rd warp engine, and she's a battlecruiser.  She's also got her own registries.  Since the kitbash was for personal use, I didn't see much of a problem in doing it, but the ship has a readme file with it anyway, for good measure.

So the 3rd engine being having a lit warp grille on one side only, and it corresponding with old original designs is 100% accidental.  Imagine my surprise.  My head still hasn't stopped spinning.
The pen is truly mightier than the sword.  And considerably easier to write with.

the engine section (main hull) is of the Federation refit, the saucer of the ardennes  and the warp engines are from the Potemkin tmp.

i wanted a aft arc for the torpedo tube (the federation refit), and i wanted rear firing arc for the phaser (beside the one above the shuttle bay) for a bether defend angle, and a super impulse engine to get more speed at impulse for manoeuvre.
and for last the warp engines of the Potemkin tmp for more power and speed at warp.

well if the ship to be released is actually a 2 nacelle varient, then yeah its a bit of a moot point.

I've been kitbashing for our LAN games for some time but have found mayself making more and more components myself for the ships I want to model from the books.

I recently did a Klingon K2 "Artor" using 50% of my own parts and the A2 "Esaz" escort corvette uses 80% my own parts. As I become more familiar with the software package, techniques and tricks, the more I feel I can do.

I've been trying for ages to model SCNN warp nacelles for the Endeavor Class CC+ so that I can finally fix the the correct ship into the SFC stock ship line up.
It also means that I can do the 1900 Quillen Class friagates, which also run SCNN engines instead of the round PB 47 warp nacelles.

The ship looks cool and I like the nacelles.

Have a go at making and texturing basic parts for kitbashing yourself and keep them stored away in a parts pile.

You'll be surprised at how you figure out a way of making a part to fit just like in real plastic/metal kitbashing.
The Klingons have many ways to fry a cat. I prefer to use an L7 Fast Battlecruiser!!
