« on: June 10, 2007, 07:50:48 am »
All my function keys have gone KAPUT!

I can't alt-F4... I can't change views in game... nothing...

This is both in and out of game...

Any ideas?

I have never come across this (and don't use XP) but have some suggestions:

1/ Try unplugging and reconnecting the keyboard and rebooting

2/ Try a different keyboard as the one you have may have developed a defect

3/ Uninstall your keyboard through device manager and reinstall it

4/ Plan on losing a lot on the Dynaverse.  ;)

I had the same problem with my number keys, the Num pad still worked, but + and - and of course Equals and Underscore, went out. I borrowed a cheap Keyboard, and then remapped the bad keys to my Nostromo 52 speed pad. Made a new profile for it and voila, I had functionality back.

IF you have an alternate Device, that you could remap the function keys to, you might try that. Or as Nem says, try any other Keyboard, and see if the Function keys works on it.

There was an old Far Side Cartoon where Ned was in a plane reaching for the seat recline button... right next to it was the "wings fall off" button...

Oh, that's the F-LOCK button...when you want to use the F-keys for stuff like copy and paste and the like.

My microsoft keyboard has one.

Every time you press it, it sends the contents of your hard drive to microsoft, and then it finds your credit card numbers and starts ordering kiddy porn on the internet.

It's about as user friendly as any other microsoft product, more or less.
