Some musings I did while at work today.  Weekend radio sucks and the music station I usually listen to was playing a Beatles weekend :puke:

I'm think that I would rather do a Build Points system rather than a straight 4/1 like I was thinking above.

tentative Build Costs:
CL/D6 = 1 BP
CA/D7 = 1 BP
DN/C6 = 1.5 BP

There is also a Build time involved in construction:
CL/D6 = 1 Month
CA/D7 = 2 Months
DN/C6 = 3 Months

So to build a CL it would cost 1 BP for 1 Month, Net Cost: 1 BP.  But to build a CA it would cost 1 BP for 2 Months, Net Cost 2 BPs.  To Build a DN it costs 1.5 BP for 3 months, net cost 4.5 BPs.

Granted that ships would take longer to build than 1 - 3 months, but I figure that the hull is already down, the last 1 to 3 months is deciding what configuration to deploy the ship in.  Now that being said, this will naturally limit the number of DNs on the server, since each side starts with a set number (yet to be determined) and I doubt that either side is going to want to tie up a Ship Yard that could be building 3 CLs for one DN.

Fleeting Restrictions:
Players would be able to have Multi-Ship fleets, as long as they follow the following restrictions:
One ship MUST be a Command (Feds need a Light Command Ship because the Klinks have a whole lot of Light Command Ships)
NO (1 ship only) can be a drone ship.  (Still tossing this one around not sure yet on it)
Other ships must be either Line, Commando or Scout

The Build system would be a double blind system that can be uncovered with special intelligence missions, I'll give more once Dave and I work out the details.

Questions I have for people with experience:
Would a battle with say 50+ AIs have stability issues for PvP games?
Would a battle with said AIs have balance issues for any specific races?
Would a battle with said AIs be any fun?
