Rules Update: Do not place Bases on Planets
« on: June 02, 2007, 09:27:37 pm »
This causes problems such as mandatory missions in your own space.   I know bases can be placed anywhere but this is such a bad idea I didn't think I needed to point it out before  :)

A apologize for this update by I just didn't think about this before.   A few more short revisions will be posted shortly because I forgot a few things like when the VC rounds end (Doh!!!)

I would, but I've been forced to share my puter with my wife. So we are using a router now and everytime I login with my puter, says I have a firewall... Where's that router thread where it tells you what ports to open?

Don't know anything about routers, but found this thread that might be what your looking for.

The quickest and easiest way is to set your PC's IP in a DMZ.  I have to do this because my forwarded ports are going to the server.

I am currently forwarding ports 2300-2400 and 47624 for SFC.  Not sure if that is all of them, but I can draft and be drafted and all that so I am assuming that is what one needs.

System Specs:

Dell Dimension E521
AMD64x2 5000+
2G DDR2 RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB GDDR3
250GB SATA HD

Here are the ports you need to open.

For my DI-524 and Linksys BFSR41 router I setup a manually configured IP for my gaming PC.  For my Zoom 6X router, you can setup a fixed DHCP IP (ie. DHCP will always used the configured IP for the given MAC address of your gaming PC's network card). Also, make sure you do not have any firewall settings enabled on your router or on your Windows OS. For example, the Zoom 6X has an intrusion detector and when it was enabled I could not get into the dynaverse network.

Here's a more simple format to look at the ports to forward. This is a screenshot of the ports forwarded on my Zoom 6X router.  The ports here are the bare-bone essentials needed to log onto the dynaverse.

BTW, the port range 15101 to 15300 (TCP/UDP) is not needed unless you plan to host a dynaverse server on your box.
