Star Wars May Not Be Over Just Yet ...
« on: May 09, 2007, 09:11:18 am »

Several sentences in a Hollywood report quote George Lucas about two new action films that will be made for TV.

No Skywalker line though.

Lucas, by the way, says he is readying "Clone Wars," an animated series for TV that's derived from "Star Wars." Many "Star Wars" characters appear in "Clone Wars," but voiced by other actors.

And here's a little news: Lucas tells me he will make two more live-action films based in the "Star Wars" era.

"But they won't have members of the Skywalker family as characters," he said. "They will be other people of that milieu."

The two extra films will also be made for TV and probably be an hour long each. But, like "Clone Wars," Lucas doesn't know where on TV they will land.

Hello, HBO and Showtime. It may be time to pony up.

May the wreaths they have won never wither,
Nor it's stars cease to shine on the brave.

George needs to just let some things lie, IMHO. Star Wars cannot continue on forever, and he got kind of toasted on the first two sequels as original Star Wars fans felt like there was no connections as to the characters like there was in the first 3 S.W. movies. Look at the P/C games, Star Wars has put out quite a number of losers saleswise compared to some other games. Always something different yet "in the Star Wars time period." Fans obviously get bored with it.

I'll pass.

What he needs to do

IS GET HIS CHARACTERS INTO THE NEW JEDI ORDER TIMELINE!

Or at the very least move into the expanded universe. There is so much potential as yet untapped...

I'd pay to see that. The Thrawn series on the big screen, re-written a bit for current actors and such?

Oh yes.

The New Jedi Order series =  What you get when R.A. Salvatore writes something where he cannot have his villain summon a demon.

I could pass on all that Vong nonsense, thanks. ;D

There are more things in heaven and earth, and in the sky, than perhaps can be dreamt of. And somewhere in between heaven, the sky, the earth, lies the Twilight Zone."

Thanks for the memories, Thrawn should have been in a Star Wars movie.
