Space Monsters...
« on: April 25, 2007, 05:38:41 pm »
Come up with ideas for space monsters here. My vision would have one script on the server that will draw an enemy ship or a monster class for you to fight. We have already played this mission before and it's a good mission with the exceptions of whenever we get the planet eaters you cant kill. But thats been fixed. There are plenty of space monster models we can use from battleclinic.

So, we have the Sungliders, Spaceshells, Living Cage, Intruder (currently an Andromedan) and Plasma Miners. What other space monsters ideas can you come up with using current game mechanics?

1.) I thought of a Corrosive Space Blob monster that has an explosion stength of 1000. So if it manages to catch you and attach to your hull, you're in trouble if it dies and squirts you with its blood acid... hehehe. (To accomplish this, explosion strength to be set to 1000 and acceleration and turn mode to super fast so you cant get away from it)

2.) The Space Ant Queen. Sends a dozen or more smaller Ants (PF's) that swarm you with small weapons. (Each PF would carry another PF. One mothership ship could launch from 4 to 36 PF's or more.)

3.) Sensor impervious monsters. You can't scan them and there are so many varieties you won't know what kind of weapons they have till you engage them... (a UI would be used along with hardpoints where they do not show)

4.) Micro Monsters. They are black, tiny and nearly impossible to see yet pack a big punch with their close range attack which is to bore into the side of your hull. (Use a very small black model and give it no shields, just armor so there isn't much to see when you look at it. They will sneak up on you, believe me. Give them short range powerful weapons like an ESG Lance. Any model can be made any size.)

5.) Nova Worm. Long and snake like it's mouth shoots forth bright white sething energy hotter than a sun which melts ships on contact. (Mount 80 Ph4's in a Mauler arc. Ship is cumbersome, cant do past speed 9 and thus turns like a square wheel in the sand using the slowest turn mode.)

How about model heads of various American Idol contestants that shoot at you from their mouths.

go traditional.

The doomsday machine (tons of armor, can only be killed w/ a suicide shuttle launched from range 1, shoots antiproton (p-4? x alot?))

The space amoeba (kills engines off like doubling does, sensor limited (zone of darkness), killed w/ something special after you scan it long enough)

The space cloud (kills your crew units!)

Space buoy from first federation, then the biga$$ ship.

... well you get the picture... go traditional.

..maybe something that involves beaming down to a planet and doing something there as well as something on the ship ("we'll team up against them spock, you up there and me down here...")...  giant greek god hand..(?)

Is there any way to 'accidentially' draft a monster into a PVP match ?

...or perhaps a random monster appearance in say a planet or base hex, and on the news page is displayed something like "Mayday, Mayday, Starbase 114 in hex 38,15 is under attack by (whatever monster), please help us...Arghhhhhh!" Then whatever ships actually show up to help are cast into a pvp match.

Or if nobody does in X amount of time the base (or planet) becomes uninhabitable and immediately turns neutral to be claimed by whatever race shows up to claim it.

...just a thought.

Maybe some kind of horde monster.  You know, bunches and bunches of these little fighter or PF-like creatures that swarm your ship laying waste with massed Ph-Gs.  If you're really unlucky, their mother may show up--say, 8 Ph-4s, with decent speed and a semi-good turn rate.

wyn fish ships, omega sector races, ships using taldren xtech that we never see on a normal server (such as the N-RC)

i'd like to see the N-RC deployed on some ships found in asteroid belts to make it look more like a mining operation
since convoy creation seems to work, can we start seeing convoys with escorts or q ships, and not 3 naval vessels attacking?

The Cutty Sark, during the mission you have to beam 762 off of it before he drinks himself to death.   ;D
