directory servers down?
« on: March 26, 2007, 11:16:29 am »

I'm getting firewall messages from the game, and the serverkit says it can't find the directory servers, so I's guessing they're down ;)

ok, then what's wrong with my setup because I'm getting the firewall error.  Windows firewall turned off, router set to DMZ for this machine, and avast antivirus turned off.
I was never here, you were never here, this conversation never took place, and you most certainly did not see me.

only saw one thing on there that even closely resembled a firewall (filter) and I turned that off too.

Still no-go.

*sigh* Well, not sure...
But, I had a similiar problem for a while... ;)
Turned out, there was a new version of GameSpy out. I had to log into the GSA site and download the update, maybe try that.
That fixed my firewall messages.  ;D
There is also a step by step process listed here, with links for downloads, maybe check it against what you've done.

Downloaded Gamespy.  No go.  Rechecked windows firewall settings: still off.  Antivirus: still off.  Router still a mystery...  following link

ok, just checked, and yes, those settings are correct.  Looks like I'm going to be contacting my ISP about taking the d--ks out of their @$$es and letting me use the service I'm paying for.

In that case I should be able to get on through the DMZ of my router with the correct directory server settings.

Hmmm, I recall a post by Bonk stating that Pesty's (otherwise awesome) Enhancement pack was somehow incompatable with OP+4.0 (which came out after)
I don't remember EXACTLY what the issue was, anyone else know?
Might find the thread with a little searching, tho.  ;)
