Cool.  We should hook up on the same server to dominate the seas.  When it comes out.  Whenever that may be.

I was thinking of going French for my first toon.  I figure half the people will be pirates, 3/4's of the rest will be Brits, what's leftover will go into the Spanish.  I figure French will have the least amount of players, so I'll go French maybe.  I don't know.  French or Pirate.  Or maybe Brits.  Depends on if any race, er nation, gets an advantage I want.

I applied for beta, never heard anything back.  I didn't expect to get in, though, as "computer troubleshooting" isn't my strongsuit.

I check the forums about once a week or so to see if they've got a release date, I'll go check them later today if ya sent a PM.

Can't wait to meet my first Jak Sparr0w, or blakkbrd,, etc.  :)

Release date is set for January 22, 2008.  woot.

If you pre-order, you get to begin playing two weeks before that.

Looks like I might have to pre-order this game.

Got an email yesterday saying I was accepted into the Open Beta.  Score.  Gonna have to give it a whirl and do some testing and see what it's like.

any reviews?

lots of rumor of an exodus from "another game" to this one when it kicks off... wondering if its worth another sub/time sink?

The sea combat seems pretty cool, avatar combat seems pretty rudimentary like it was an afterthought.  Sea combat is cool, but takes a while (10-15 mins or so), and doesn't seem like the reward is worth the time.  But that's prolly becasue I'm just a noob and am saber dancing from way downtown.  Not sure yet how much I can get up close and boogey down, you know.  Not sure how costly a "lot of damage to my ships" is, and how that impacts my economy.  So far, I haven't played much in the beta.  Prolly gonna play more this weekend.

Doing the open beta kinda turned me off, no reviews here.

That, and a couple of WITP campaigns are taking all my game time.
