Remind me never to do this again.......

Never, never get that close to the unknown.  Hey, I know I'm late to this campaign, but allow me my moments of shock, won't you?  I took a mission in heavy asteroids and found THIS waiting for me!   Complete with a pirate ally and three satellite ships!

Nice models Dizzy, for this and the satellites.   I didn't realize Andros were going to be in this game.  Where did you get the model?  It's better than the ones I have.

A quick scan told me I had nothing to worry about.  Dizzy had modeled the TR beams by using <gasp> PPDs.  What the heck was he thinking?  PPDs?  That don't show their breakaway killing power.  This would be a walk in the park.

Imagine my shock when they opened up at close range with TR heavies........  <urf!>  It seems I'd forgotten a UI interface glitch.

Yeah, they were only AI.   I survived and won the mission.   BUT MY HULL WASN'T HAPPY ABOUT IT!  Especially when a certain SOB drafted me right after to rub my nose in it by killing me after I was so proud for living..   :P

(PS:  Nice game, Chuut.  It was fun, and you flew well.  I think you still have all your Gorn skills down pat.  My ship was all fixed by the time we closed.  I only had a few spares left, but more spares wouldn't have helped me break that tractor.)

I survived and won the mission.

Most escape from that mission. A few foolhardy enough to close in on that ship soon discover they bit off more than they can chew. It's a fun mission. It was in SG5. Tracey G recoded one of ED's monster missions and set it up with a low frequency rating for asteroid hexes (which give you cover and help kill them, open space is suicide). Uses a stock opplus raider ship and the M-INT monster, which has been redone as an Intruder and donated in the Tigerheart list to carry cobras.

Adam Turner aka Desty Nova is the author of the mesh and with his permission only for release with this mod, authorized me to retexture his ships. I stole bits and parts from everywhere to come up with the look. You may recognize some of P81's textures in there too. Some are original, but the look is more foreboding and scary than the textures Adam had. But of all the mesh work done... Anduril, P81, Darkdrone, WZ, and others, Desty's details fit the SFB look best impo.

Glad you like the mission! We are working on a Displacement device script solution that will help offset the difficulties Andros have with drones and plasma... We just cant bear giving them shuttles... So be prepared for another surprise next server!

Just playing around, I did some POV-ray renders of those beasties a while back, it was going to take a bit more work to get the illuminations to work in Milkshape/POV-Ray where I left off as I recall...

Desty definitely did a nice job on those.

I really enjoyed the alien encounter missions.  They are tough but winnable, even in Lyran ships(only race I have faced them with this server).

Well, what's Starfleet Command complete without those Andros? I think you have done extremely well.

And I tired to get it, but I think Nightsoft has been long-defunct. Which begs me the question:

WHY haven't Desty_Nova put his models into BATTLECLINIC?!?! And any chance that his models still exist?

If the Future of Star Trek is about the change of everything....

...then I will NEVER be the same old NCC-1701-V!

I wish someone would construct a Hall Of Fame type model pack.  I'd go more crazy with customizing what models I use, but I'm afraid of ruining my OP setup for multiplayer or just getting some bad/dysfunctional models on board.  It's too hard to keep up with what's nice looking, thorough (with proper hardpoints), yet doesn't screw up the game (in terms of model scale and multiplayer).

But that's just wishful thinking on my part, I guess.  Still, it would be nice to have something that updated the model portion of Pestalence's download pack.

Oh, well..
