They never specifically mention what he was cast out from the ranks of the system lords for. It was bad enough for the rest f them to send out an assassin though.

In Season 8 I believe. the episode Threads, he even admits that he is as bad as they come. he also found a way to deceive Oma into believing that he wasn't a bad guy so she would help him ascend.  He was eventually found out, I"m assuming that he was up to his old evil tricks, by the rest of the Ancients and was cast out again. Not all the way though.

My guess is that he did the one thing the other system lords could not tolerate.  Tried to be the ONLY system lord.  Most likely he was also breaking the protected planets treaty and risking bringing the Asgard down on them.

Add one other guess.  The knowledge of what the "Harcesis" was had to come from somewhere Anubis might have been the first to try and create one to make the ideal host.

wow... the Stargate universe is quite well thought out, and there don't seem to be any incontinuities.
I was never here, you were never here, this conversation never took place, and you most certainly did not see me.

You are correct the Stargate universe is very well thought out.  At least until season 9 anyways...

A couple of things that kinda bothered me.  A constant line of dialog is that the Gate Wormholes are only one way.  Ep 1 if you look closely, Apophis left through an incoming wormhole.

Also the initial description of how the gate addresses worked in the movie was very flawed.  6 reference points are not needed to locate any object in space, only 3 are.  r theta and phi.  It would be very difficult for any race to obtain space flight with out something similar to Spherical Coordinate System.

I put the Stargate Universe as one of the top fleshed out universes in Sci-Fi.  With all the Star Trek references through out the program, it would not be too far fetched to believe that they saw the chaos in the Star Trek Universe (conflicting canon sources) and said, "we can do better than that"
