Race Uniqueness in SGO
« on: February 24, 2007, 12:33:13 pm »
The "taking ideas" thread was too long...

How about only F Racks on any non-Mirak Ship?
Phaser G in only Hydrans?
Two ADD on later Klingon ships e.g. C7 series

Are Mirak ships over-powered (Engine-wise) with set up?
Would Feds need (as oppposed to Want) more power to charge 8 Phaser III (assuming thy fit) vice 2 Phaser G?

Anything goes for Pirates?

Personally, I'd like to see a server that takes place entirely in the early and middle eras.  Nothing like limited tech to make you think and work harder.

Personally I'd love to fly early and middle era servers.  A sever that ends in 2275 would be my cup of tea.

Limiting Drone racks to Fs on non-Kzinti doesn't seem like a good idea.  Klingons, in my opinion need the boost they get from their drone racks, a rack that fires every two turns just doesn't help all that much.  Federation need the G-racks for the ADD that's included.  (I know that they don't HAVE to be included but they have been traditionally)

With the exception of some late era escort ships, the G-phaser is a Hydran only.  And it would make sense eventually for the G-Phaser to make its way into the hands of its staunchest allies (in limited numbers), the Federation.

Real pilots LIKE using F drone launchers.  All hail the mighty D6.

Welll I suppose I should step in...

F racks- Ehh, don't really kno why, drones aren't really hard to avoid or overbalancing (I'll assume DH has finlly deleted that stupid image)
PhG should be on Hydrans and LDR, probl;em is the game was kinda written to make sure th Feds get everything.
There's never been a decent reason given why the Klinks only have 1ADD on some of their important ships, but t00l
would scream bloody murder if the Klinks got anything at all, so likely a no go.

And *real* pilots don't use drones at all.
(Except on out fighters...)

Early Era is my favourite.   The various limitations give the races flavour that later eras have blended away.

I prefer the D7 but the D6 is a capable ship and F launchers have their uses.

I guess that's a No then.  I like early-mid as the D7C is competitive.  Now a D7WK with FX Disr arcs makes a nice poor Klingon's C7...

I'd be in favor of more race flavor.  Unfortunately, that's mainly to be found in the early eras of the game.
