Topic: Unable to reinstall SFCOP (Read 1381 times)

I get the keyboard bug after I reinstall and when I escape out and then come back to the game, all I see is a black field and the SFCOP cursor that flashes around the screen as I move the mouse.

Does anyone have any ideas what I problem is??? Really getting frustrated at this!!!!!!

I have noticed that when already on the map, the only really safe way to minimize OP and come back w/o issues is to be in the shipyard, view a ship, then minimize and come back.
As far as actual reinstall problems, not sure without more details on your problem.
You may need to delete all folders, etc and do a complete fresh install, though, not just a unistall and reinstall.
I have also noticed that, according to the webmap, you have quite a collection of ships:

acess the sfc.ini file, find the line that says:

windowed = 0

and change it to

windowed = 1

this allows the game to run in the backround.

As for the shiplist, not a clue. Those ships listed are like all the ships I played while playing on the forge.

AND changing the SFC.INI file to read windows=1... didn't help either (sigh)

I lost my hard drive and had to reformat it, and when I tried to reinstall all my programs, I'm getting the keyboard bug and can't even put the CD code in to authorize the game.

(With a really big sigh)

Things to try: not run the sfcop.exe but the starfleetop.exe. Modify the Shortcut file to include the working directory.

Ah..well, now I know what you mean by the keyboard bug...
Right click on your SFC icon on your desktop.
In the "target" box type this in: "C:\Program Files\Taldren Software Inc\Starfleet Command Orion Pirates\StarFleetOP.exe"
In the "start in" box type: "C:\Program Files\Taldren Software Inc\Starfleet Command Orion Pirates"
Click "apply"
*note* if you don't have it installed in the "C" drive, insert correct drive location.
That should fix you not being able to enter the CD key

whenever i have this problem i use the windows key to minimize the window then i bring it back to my desktop hasnt failed me yet.

Well first things first...

IT'S NICE TO BE BACK IN THE CAPTAINS CHAIR ONCE AGAIN!!!!!!

Thanks to all who responded, but I still can minimize my game and bring it back up.

On the good side, stafleetOP.exe did the trick

Once again, thanks to the community for pulling another pilot through.
