Legacy sucks! I have more than enough power and equip to run it and I still get that darned error message.

What are your specs?

A DxDiag would be nice.

No one I've actually talked to in person (face to face) have had problems IF they weren't BS'ing about their computer and at least met the min specs of an x-box 360.  Some of them Did have to turn their game graphics to much lower settings though, since even nice specs won't run the game with lights and whistles.  Those who were BS'ing seem to have Every problem in the book though. 

Don't worry, Bethesda had thesame problem with idiots who tried to run oblivion on lower spec computers, as well as those trying to run it on full graphics when their rig couldn't handle it.  On the otherhand the specs listed as suggested were closer on oblivions packaging than that on oblivions.  If you only meet whats on the box, I'd expect problems.

There IS one other problem I have seen I admit, but it's specifically with Ati cards.  It's that with some of the cards the drivers that were out for them, needed to be updated by Ati.  That's why I hate Ati cards.  Great cards, but even after years of people like me complaining, they still don't know how to make a decent driver for their cards.  Hell, there are games that STILL won't run on their cards that are years old, simply because they didn't make the adjustment because they figured the game wasn't big enough, so there was no reason to update the drivers for it in the next update they made.  It's not all Ati's, and it depends it varies dependant on which drivers one has.  It causes some stuttering in the game itself, and is specific to Ati's from what I've seen.

However, can you state what the error message is that you are getting?  If it gives you a windows code, write down the code so I can see exactly what problem the game is running into.

i'll tell you this much... if my 3 year old p4 3.2 ghz comp w/ a 6800gt can run it at max then just about any computer can. Note that  Legacy does not support all video cards, so check their site and double check that.  This is probably one of the most annoying things out there, the fact that if you don't use the exact vid card recomended it won't work.  I find this just slightly rediculous as HL2 has by far much better graphics, is far more cpu and gpu intensive and yet it could still be run on a variety of cards.  This just confirms to me again how little play testing they did for this game to ensure stability for pc gamers.  It so disappointing too, the game had so much potential but was totally fubared from the beginning.

For the record, the patch does little to fix the game play of the game. The most annoying thing to me is that they didn't even address the mouse problems (ie it being overly sensitve to clicking).  You would figure they would at least address the most important part for at PC person... how we interface with the game (like for example, using the keyboard controls to manuvour and shoot... you can't do both at the same time unless you use the mouse to shoot)

i don't even use the camera tracking system... it too fickle... i just track the target by hand which works a hell of alot better for me any ways... wish they had give me full mous control like i don't know... actually being able to use the mouse curser to select a target

I've been lucky in that I haven't had that problem.  I use the mouse all the time to select targets.  As far as gameplay, after tweaking it works as good as the X-box version for me luckily.

Hmm, from the way you were speaking I was thinking you had a rig that would at least match a 360.

A dxdiag would be nice too...BUT even without that I can probably tell you the problems already.

First, your card is just not going to cut it (if it were a newer Ati card, you still could have some problems, Ati drivers are terrible, and I seem to have more problems with them running games than Nvidia...better cards overall for what you pay...but due to how terrible their driver makers are...they stink on new releases half the time...but I digress...simpler to just say..even with a newer ati you'd have to make sure you had updated drivers and cross your fingers).

If you are using that video card, I'd also probably assume you also have integrated soundcard?

Using a Laptop?  They seem to use that particular card, probably around 1 or 2 years old.  I don't know if someone had the exact right combination of components with that card if they could or not...but it doesn't seem to meet the regulations to run the game overall.

I don't know what else could be causing the problems with the basic stuff you listed, but point blank, right off the bat, it's your card.  I'd upgrade that if you want to play Legacy on the PC...OR a cheaper alternative, or at least cost comparable and easier to accomplish would be to buy and Xbox360 and play it on that.

I will NEVER buy another P/C from Fry's again unless it is a Sony Vaio and a salesperson cannot B.S. me about it. I was going to go with the VAIO line again, but they have custom made P/Cs and I bought one of their's w/o doing my homework on AMD chips and their corresponding speeds are vs Intel.

So, that being said, is it possible that I can buy a super duper vid card and install it in one of the expansion slots and it will automatically shut out the ATI?

It's funny, but when I looked up the specs on it from the Legacy forum it was supposed to handle the game.

P/Cs are so inexpensive now, I might just get a new m/board while I'm at it, or maybe even a new system, then wifey can use this one for her school and job stuff.

I'll have to shell out some more big bucks on a desk and chair cause she is NOT getting my onyx desk and leather captain's chair to use with her P/C, hehehehehe...

What brand do you have, or what motherboard?

It might be possible.  It might also be difficult.

If you do change it, YOU WILL probably do BIOS changing.  If you haven't done changes to a BIOS before, just be aware you have to be careful so you don't screw up your entire computer and stop it from working properly.  That said, it's fairly simple.  What you probably would have to do is first put in the new card, then go to the BIOS and disable the integrated card so it doesn't interfere with the new one you put in.

To tell the truth though, and truthfully speaking...I think it really would be cheaper and easier for you to get an Xbox360.  Seriously.  And you wouldn't have to worry about problems with Legacy running...and have other fun games available.

PS:  One of the problems with the Legacy game is that who ever put out the specs, and then put the game installing at max resolution and graphic and AA was an idiot.  The specs to run it smoothly and well are far beyond what they list for some stupid reason I haven't figured out yet.  I'd fire whoever was the person a designed the inst...anyways, I'm not in charge of their company, but a few stupid decisions on their part screwed over a whole lot of people.  IMO.

Hey EE, just do a search for Belarc advisor, DL, install, and enjoy. IT's non-invasive, and will tell you more about your PC then you'll ever need to know. I highly recomend it, and Yes IT will tell what your MB is right up top right.

I have not been impressed with what I saw on you tube (Yes, people have filmed their battles and put them up for display).

IMHO, ANY P/C gaming company could have done wonders with new graphics and options on SFC and EAW and OP and still came out way ahead profit margin wise. 

I played that game for well over 4 years, and that itself is proof positive I'm a nutcase! Best game ever released, even more than Pirates redoux or SH3. Not to mention the friendships forged. Yup, people would say we are nutcases for talking even years later after the release of a game.
