Though there might be a thread here on this, searched it over, but couldn't find it.  I got this for Christmas...and found it pleasantly good.  Animation is as expected, from the time era it's from, which means not that great compared to today's standards.  The story's and writing are really good however, far above par for what today's cartoon's pass for in those departments (IN MY OPINION of course).  Anyone else get these and watched them?

PS:  Once again oops, I suppose I should have put this in the Holodeck...months away at school studying must have fried my brain on how to be a good forum goer...

I have the books here, but I haven't seen them since I was a very very young Okie. IT came on saturday mornings, along with Fat Albert, Wheelie the wonderbug, etc.

From what I remember, they weren't that bad.

I got them too -

Remember watching them when they originally aired - "The Slaver Weapon" in particular was enjoyable to rewatch, first appearance of the Kzin + the Slavers as a race give me ideas for a potential campaign/mod...

The case the DVD's come in is pretty nice too!

I read recently that "The Slaver Weapon" was the first Saturday morning cartoon to depict death (the weapon self-destructs, killing the Kzinti).

My two favorites are "Yesteryear" and "The Time Trap."

Reguarding the storylines, weren't many of the episodes written by famous science fiction writers as well as some TOS story writers? I seem to recall D.C. Fontana writing one of the TAS episodes.

FYI Star Trek: The Animated Series is the only Trek series with an Emmy Award (1975--Daytime Emmy for Best Children's Program)

I already have all of the episodes on my computer, but I might still buy the DVD set, mainly for the special features.  I was actually kind of surprised to see this one come out since TAS seemed to be the odd member of the Star Trek family that was always locked away in the attic and no one talked about.  It's not even considered canon (except for the back story for Yesteryear, but that's mainly because it was developed by D. C. Fontana).  I also have most of them in book form and read them a few years before I ever saw them (by the way, the books were adapted from the animated episodes, not the other way around, just in case anyone was wondering).

Someone at my college just happened to be "sharing" them online a couple of years ago.
