I would guess it might go one of two ways. the first is training accidents. They happen all the time and for those military personnel in dangerous occupations, deaths do happen. Another option has to do with your assumption that there isn't conflicts going on on earth during the run of the show. That is never really talked about much. I seem to recall one instance where they talk about terrorism or something but I can't place it at the moment.
Only in America .....do we use the word 'politics' to describe the process so well: 'Poli' in Latin meaning 'many' and 'tics' meaning 'bloodsucking creatures'.

As for the individual soldiers...well there are terrorists and conflicts and training accidents and yada yada yada.

Now, when Anubis destroyed a carrier battle group, I believe they told the people of Earth that a meteor fell out of the sky and obliterated the battle group (I kid you not).  One of my favorite funny episodes was when General Hammond and the Russian General had to explain to the United Kingdom, France, and Republic of China that Earth has been engaged in interstellar war for the past several years.

Thor's verbal kicking of Kinsey's ass in that epsiode had me on the floor clutching my stomach.

(Okay, Okay, I really am going back to writing the next forty pages of script tonight before I go to bed!)

Now that question I can not answer. I have not seen any of season 10 yet.
