Writing Files to DVD-RW
« on: January 17, 2007, 10:55:25 pm »
I was under the impression that copying files onto a DVD-RW with Windows XP Home would work the same as copying files onto a CD-RW. However, Windows refuses to copy any files to be written onto DVD-RW, saying, "Windows encountered a problem when trying to copy this file/folder. What do you want Windows to do?" My only options are to skip, retry, or cancel. Of course, when I skip the data that Windows has trouble copying I end up having to skip EVERYTHING. How can I convince Windows to copy files onto DVD-RW's?

Normally, when it comes to writing files to any type of blank disc, my personal advice would be never to use the Windows tools.  Best to use a burning program, such as Nero or Roxio.  I personally recommend Roxio.  I've been using it since the days it was stilll under the Adaptec name.
The pen is truly mightier than the sword.  And considerably easier to write with.

I don't believe that Windows XP has native DVD-RW/R/R+ coping ability. You'll have to use a seperate program like nero for that.

Yes, I finally figured out how to add files to a DVD-RW with Nero. Thanks for the hints, guys.
