What pc specs Im playing legacy on
« on: December 11, 2006, 09:56:19 am »
Ok after being scared to death to install the game after reading the Bethesda forums, I couldnt resist so here it went game plays smooth on my pc amd barton2500+ 1.87ghz 1.5gb ddr3200 ati X1300pro 256md 8x/4x graphics card, now heres another kicker after chatting with Phaser I experimented and installed the game on my old rig my kid plays on amd1700+ 1.47ghz 512mb ddr2100 ati X1300pro 256md 8x/4x graphics card his mb supports only 4x again and to my surprise the game played smooth and that is without adjusting anything folks straight from the box everthing cranked up. Is it a good game? :-\ looks like an arcade shooter to me as I never played armada or bc to compare what folks are talking about IMHO sfc3 is a better game ,yep I have to say it  :o and that means op is god like  :woot: in comparison for what this community like's  in a trek game. Visually thou it's damn niffty hopefully Bethesda will patch her up for the folks we shall see.

In other words dont go spending an bunch of cash to upgrade your rig unless you really wanna to play the thing I paid round $80.00x2  for the ati card's a couple months ago Iknow I would be pissed if I dropped a grand on a new rig just for legacy.

Even if you dont want to look into upgrades for Legacy, it does have similar requirements for Windows Vista, so if you dont want to upgrade just for Legacy, but you want to at least have a system that can Run Windows Vista, then you can use it as a additional motivation factor :)

your very lucky toast.I have a semperon 3000+,1. 8ghz,1 gig ram,BFG 5500 OC 256 MB 8x agp,and at the lowest settings,my game is very laggy. Now on the readme txt it has a listing of the vid cards it supports and mine isnt one of them.Funny thing is i have a compaq laptop and its specs are amd turion 64 x2,! gig ram (shared),256 gforce 6150, and at the lowest settings,it runs smooth. But as soon i hit those nebulae,it gets real choppy.I have an old rig my sons uses. Its a amd athlon fx but the vid card he has is a gforce ti 4400 128 mb and it crashes when it runs legacy.Read from what u have toast of your old rig,im gonna try ti switch vid cards on tha told rig and see what happens. You think the vid card (bfg 5500) tha tis not listed as one of the supported card could be the culprit?Or would be both the vid card and processor?Any help woukd be helpful,Thanks.

Whats up Godfather long time bro, um its in the graphics card bro Phaser has that same card as you but pci and things are real choppy for him as well and he's on a 3.2ghz pc, mind you thats just for single player I have never bothered with muti yet beyond AI skirmish until they patch this thing up more. Legacy is just gonna be a single player experiance for myself as it's seriously lacking. I thought sfc3 was a jack smack this thing is a clubbing.

From bethesda forums on video cards that are supported:

What video cards are supported?
ATI X1900 series
ATI X1800 series
ATI X1600 series
ATI X1300 series
ATI X850 series
ATI x800 series
ATI x700 series
ATI x600 series
ATI Radeon 9800 series
ATI Radeon 9700 series
ATI Radeon 9600 series
ATI Radeon 9500 series
NVIDIA GeForce 7800 series
NVIDIA GeForce 6800 series
NVIDIA GeForce 6600 series
NVIDIA GeForce 6200 series
NVIDIA GeForce FX series (5700 or above)

From what I am reading, people not having these cards are having trouble with lag, etc because their cards are overheating.  Apparently legacy is generating extreme heat, more than other new games.

Yeah, but if you have an FX series card, for heaven's sake, at least upgrade to the 6200. The 5200, 5500, etc, are all crap. It's nVidia's only recent misstep of which I am aware.
