Xmas comong and wireless headphones
« on: December 05, 2006, 11:38:15 am »
Some time back I decided I wanted bluetooth headphones so I could listen to music on my laptop at work without tripping over headphones all the time.  Well, there are issues that prevent reasonably affordable bluetooth headphones, so I'm recasting the question, slightly altered:

DOes anyone know of any decent wireless headphones of any type that offer decent sound quality?  The busy season at work is approaching and I would like to finally take my music wireless before it hits.

Man I just read an article about this recently. I think it was in game informer magazine, dealing with the PS3 Bluetooth headphones. I'll try and find the article online and get back with you on this.

I avoid anything w/ bluetooth. Reason being it is very short ranged. 30ft or so.

I heard the same thing, well that and It drops signal at the drop of a hat. I won't even run a wireless mouse, not only because of Blue tooth, but even IR seems to have problems.

Heck, I finaly went wireless with my whole PC yesterday to be honest. I plan on turning my old office into a theater, and am doing some research into good cheap speakers, around the 100 - 300 price range.

Right now, I have my PC hooked to the living room tv, But having a good dark evil room in order to watch those new DVD's seems like a good idea right now.

Of Course, I'll join Clark here in speaker/ sound Suggestions.

I'm not worried about range, 10 feet would be more than i need for what I plan to do.  the problem is I think there are some firmware issues to getting bluetooth headphones to work directly on my iBook.  I think this is common among computers, but I could be wrong.  If I had a USB adapter it might help, but I dunno, they like to charge like $50-60 for those.
I never had my bluetooth mouse cut out on me.

I haven't seen it in wireless but one headphone feature I like is sound cancelling, it removes much of the ambient background noice (PC fans for example).  Its amazing how much background noise there is that you just tune out.
