Hey guys I know that Hstaphath hasn't been on for a while but he's extra busy with a new baby and she's pretty sick right now.  So check out this conversation that he had with Ferret on the 18th and the one he had with me on the 20th.  Please send your good thoughts to this family they really need some good karma come their way!

Also please please ignore any bad words and such!  I don't want to change it as it is something that was true and I meant every word.  For you so easily offended don't read but just send good thoughts and prayers, please?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jhaines3537:  Poing?
FerretLXIX:  Poing!
Jhaines3537:  Hey bro, this is a request for whatever good thoughts, prayers, and karma the Smith Ohana can send our way.
Jhaines3537:  Jadzia is in the hospital and will have surgery tomorrow morning at 7am.
FerretLXIX:  oh wow, You definitely will be in my thoughts and preyers
FerretLXIX:  prayers
Jhaines3537:  She developed an infection in her left hip joint that has rapidly become severe enough that they are going to have to go in and clean in out.  They will be checking to see if they have to remove any bone material while they are in there.  She will be in the hospital for at least another week (it's already been 3 days) and be on IV antibiotics for at least another week after that.
FerretLXIX:  Amy is on the phone with me and she says she'll be praying
Jhaines3537:  Incredibly enough, her mother had this exact same type of infection and procedure done on her 30 years ago this month when she was 2.
Jhaines3537:  her mother being my wife Jen, of course... that came out sounding confusing.
FerretLXIX:  So, this is something hereditary?
Jhaines3537:  Luckily, medicine has improved enough that it isn't going to be as invasive as it was back then and Jadzia won't require a body cast like Jen did.
Jhaines3537:  Since it is an infection, it technically can't be hereditary, but the Docs say it is to much of a coincidence to not say that there is at least some sort of genetic "predisposition" to having this happen.
Jhaines3537:  Tell Amy thanks for me and that I appreciate you both very much!
FerretLXIX:  I guess it would be a good thing tho keep this in the back thoughts.  For her future
FerretLXIX:  np
FerretLXIX:  she just left the phone (she was at the Navy Exchange) so,I'll tell her when she calls me from home
Jhaines3537:  Thanks, I've gotta finish packing bags for tonight and drop Ben off with some friends of ours before heading back to the hospital.
FerretLXIX:  ok, you take care and
'll be keeping you  and your family in my thoughts
Jhaines3537:  Thank you, bro, we sincerely appreciate it.
My conversation with Hsta
BASTETLXIX [10:51 A.M.]:  DUDE!  how is Jadzia?
Hstaphath [10:52 A.M.]:  She is doing pretty well today, she is eating full meals again.
BASTETLXIX [10:52 A.M.]:  what the hel happend?  I haven't checked my email yet
Hstaphath [10:52 A.M.]:  They think they may have her on the right antibiotic finally and the drainage tube should come out tomorrow.
Hstaphath [10:54 A.M.]:  She developed a severe viral infection in her left hip joint.  Oddly enough, her mother had the exact same type of infection in her right hip joint over 30 years ago.
Hstaphath [10:54 A.M.]:  Evidently, there is some sort of genetic predisposition to it happening.
BASTETLXIX [10:55 A.M.]:  oh crap does that mean she's going to have the same autoimune thing jen has?
Hstaphath [10:55 A.M.]:  Of course, being MY daughter, she couldn't go and get one of the run of the mill Strep or Staf infections... she had to get a new rare form of Homopholia Enfluenza.
Hstaphath [10:55 A.M.]:  Possibly.
BASTETLXIX [10:56 A.M.]:  oh f*ck oh f*ck i am so sorry to hear that love!
Hstaphath [10:57 A.M.]:  The problem with having a new strain of Homopholia is that they are frantically trying to find a type of antibiotic that will kill it.  Once they do, Jadzia will have to stay in the hospital 5 more days from that moment and have to have 3 more weeks of IV antibiotics at home after that.
BASTETLXIX [10:58 A.M.]:  ah sh*t you guys so don't need this kind of crap right now
Hstaphath [10:58 A.M.]:  Jen had is a LOT worse than Jadzia, with Jadzia we caught it early.  When they operated on Jen, the infection had already spread into the bones and cartilage so she ended up in a body cast for several weeks.
Hstaphath [10:58 A.M.]:  Heh, no kidding!
BASTETLXIX [10:59 A.M.]:  so she is still in the hospital?
Hstaphath [11:01 A.M.]:  Yep.  We will be here at least until next Monday or Tuesday at the ealiers she can get out.
Hstaphath [11:02 A.M.]:  *earliest.
BASTETLXIX [11:02 A.M.]:  is there something we can do?  send coffee for yule?  if i had money you know i would be cutting you a check right now and overnighting it
BASTETLXIX [11:03 A.M.]:  f*cking hel i feel so helpless
Hstaphath [11:03 A.M.]:  No, no, just love, prayers, and good karma is what we need right now.
BASTETLXIX [11:04 A.M.]:  you know you have always had that from us!
Aloha,
AlienLXIX
Prayers and good wishes well on their way.
IT's amazing how many of us remember the old Bard of Xeno corp. This guy left us with so many chuckles in the past, esp. with the monty python skits. Hsta, and by extension his family, will always have my respect.
The prayers certainly helped, Jadzia got to come home for a very thankful Thanksgiving!
She is responding very well (aside from the explosive diarrhea, of course) to the antibiotic that she will have to keep taking by IV here at home for the next 3 weeks.  Aside from the small scar on the front of her left hip, this should all be a distant memory by 2007.  Most importantly, aside from her annoyance at having a pic line in her left arm, Jadzia is her happy playful self.
By the way, yes, her nickname is "Dax" and she is named after my wife's favorite Star Trek character.  There is family history on my wife's side with this since her younger sister Kalynda, Jadzia's aunt, was named after an alien female from TOS.  Out of my 4 kids, my eldest daughter is the only one that doesn't have a "Star Trek" name.  Instead, Annie is named after my older sister Sueanne that died of bone cancer when she was 14.  In age between Annie and Jadzia are my two boys James T. and Benjamin.   ::)
P.S. "Jadzia" also happens to be the Polish word for "Princess" so that is what we tell all the non-Trekkers who ask about her name.
Good news, as of this morning, Jadzia is off the antibiotics and officially back to her happy healthy self!
She will have a small scar on the front of her left hip (right in the leg crease area) but otherwise should have no other lasting effects of this nightmare she has had to go through.
My very heartfelt thanks for all the prayers and good wishes!
