Josh was banned for admin abuse. This is something we take very seriously here at D.Net.

And as some of you may sense, he's been treading on shaky ground for a long time.

I have over three pages of his posts saved, in which he plugged his site, his services, and utilized our services and bandwidth to promote his site that were in violation of the terms and conditions of this site. I've got saved pages of when the whole "pay for play" scam went down at CUGS, although most of you are probably new enough to his site to not even know about that.

I have several saved PM's of conversations we've had regarding our agreements about intra-site support,  and I've even got a couple teamspeak sessions recorded regarding our issues with his usage of D.Net resources to better his site. So, if we really wanted to go public, it'd be petty, stupid, and quite frankly it would go against my personal code of ethics and one helluva waste in time just to satisfy a few peoples curiosity. It'd also violate Josh's right to privacy, which we happen to also take very seriously - that happens to also be the reason we ALWAYS tell you to resolve personal issues via PM's.

If you've not read the rules / terms of services then I suggest you do so forthright, as this site is a continuation of a community and tradition that was around a long time before CUGS, and will be around long after because the community knows who does what for the community.

Who was contacted by CUGS/ Josh and told they would have spot in podcasts, then never given any information on how to do this? Dynaverse.Net

Who was contacted by CUGS / Josh and asked to be a participant on the Round Table of Modders, but then never given any information on where this forum was meeting, and how to participate? Dynaverse.Net.

Who has worked on numerous occassions to put the "bad" behind in the spirit of mutual site promotion, only to NEVER get any offerings from the CUGS admin staff as to what we could do on their site? Dynaverse.Net

Who's consistantly broken every promise he's made to Dynaverse.Net and myself personally about this supposed inter-site support? DIF Josh.

So, the bottom line is, when you come into someone's house, don't piss on the couch. It's been the same ever since D.Net took over for Taldren in keeping the SFC torch alive, with Taldren's blessings. Taldren didn't tolerate moderator / admin abuse, and we won't either. You want to play the "we'll have to choose" card, then please go ahead.

We'll still be here when you get back, doing the same thing we've always done - serve the community FOR the community.

Um, Frey....

 :goodpost:

762 ,..

I am guessing there were other exhanges besides the public ones ?

Correct, Skaren. And out of respect for the banned the details shall not be known. That has been, and ever shall be, Dnet's policy.

You know, I hate to say it but I think Legacy is a bit amateurish. Look at the front man, Gary Conti. He's an associate producer and looks like he just got pubes the other day.
Lmao now thats hard core,( 4 FOR MULTIPLAYER) Looks like once again the fan base has been ignored.

So it would seem - there was talk of modding in 8, 10, etc, like in BC, but that rumour was squashed as well. The bottom line is, we'll wait and see.

Who was contacted by CUGS / Josh and asked to be a participant on the Round Table of Modders, but then never given any information on where this forum was meeting, and how to participate? Dynaverse.Net.

The STG was also involved in the modders roundtable.

As for what you posted about it above frey, I was there.

I can specifically recall "X" (X from SFC3 and S31) contacting you time and time again on MSN Messenger and her saying to the rest of us that you just wanted to sit back and let us continue.  Hell, even I contacted you, you said the same thing to me.  CUGS, STG and X representing the S31 modders kept trying to involve you in the TS meetings, X and myself emailed you the address of the old modders roundtable and X continued to MSN you with the meeting times and gave you the address of the old Modders Roundtable forum address at cugs.

Well I've been asked to remove the XC from my Gaming tag ... after recieving this email which seems to coincide with the timing of my post here..

*contents of private email message removed* - 762

To clear the record the XC tag was merely an attempt to help bridge the two communities of dyna and GS...For a while this seemed promising...and every time i saw an XC on i would attempt to fly with them. Secondly nearly every time I have gone to visit the Dyna "XC" teamspeak its either empty or peeps werent playing OP.  If im not mistaken when was the last actual dyna that people vaunted was it "klingon civil war" kinda hard to participate in events that arent around. As to the bad blood between certain members of both communities its just SAD that a few peoples vanity on both sides have pretty much caused a rift in a rapidly declining community..."And i HAVE been around through all the stuff you list up here quoted and must say that it is very one sided in content"...dont dis legacy too much it may be the last viable ST gaming after all this drama...and thats pretty scary...congrats to everyone whose egos have contributed to the state of things as they are now...

Scratch one more guy from the list who cared about helping save his favorite game... :(

Keeping him banned, or unbanning him, is always up to the ones who run this.  All we wanted was more info as to why, and now we have it.  Thx.  It is not up to us pawns to decide if it was right or wrong, just for us to question when we don't have the info.

Sighs deeply...having been a proud member of XC as well as an admin over at CUGS these discussions always wound me deeply. Some of us know of long past arguments or disagreements...others of us know nothing.  The end result is that the SFC community is growing smaller every day and we have two major communities that need to be bridged somehow...I've seen tourneys between the two as well as dynas we have fought together in. I for one remain impartial hoping we all get it together one day. In defense of Josh however i must state that when people have had problems with Teamspeak he has always helped out. The CUGS site proudly displays Dyna events as  well as the rare opportunities we have had to tourney together on Gamespy. As far as spamming "yes we know Josh by now lol".  As far as what went on behind the scenes i have seen the pm's and all i can say is tempers flare but maybe the banning should be reconsidered or at least talked about. Its a shame to see a further rift in SFC community is all...With Legacy looking like its gonna bomb and the SFC numbers dwindling we really need to pull together is all.

BTW hi to everyone!  ;)

Hi War - I agree with all of this - except the "Legacy bombs" part haha. It is unfortunate that two communities that support Orion Pirates, in all it's forms, are at odds. Yes Dfly we don't control these forums, but all of us are supporting OP. I wish we could do it together. It looks to me like Josh was defending CUGS after a strange comment by Tobin Dax about Ladder leagues not doing well with 2 v 2. Actually I differ with that opinion, but that's another story. He is a little self promotional regarding CUGS, perhaps too much at times, and that seems to rub some people the wrong way. He means well, and I think you guys know that. He has offered the use of the CUGS Teamspeak when D.Net's was down. Josh has told me what he said to the admin - he should not be banned for that as he is only trying to unite the communities. Bottom Line. This is just a damn game, some are saying a dying game, and this will help the 'dying game' mindset. The CUGS people want to keep OP going as long as possible, and D.Net is an SFCOP community. Can't we all just get along? Please?

I am proud to be a member of this community, and proud to have helped extend the life of all the SFC games. Erik Bethke told me I was one reason for the popularity of SFC.

Anyway..  I don't think Tobin meant anything bad with his comment - and Josh was defending CUGS, as he has the right to. This whole thing is just stupid, a bad reaction to Josh's CUGS Promo machine.

We need to get along, all of us. I love SFC, and want to see it go beyond the Legacy era, and into the Star Trek Online era as well. UAW will live on forever, as will 4.0 - CUGS and Dyna both love and promote 4.0 matches.

This all boils down to human nature.

Frey - I will abide by what you PM'ed me, but I felt the need to express these opinions and reserve the right to do so.

ChessMess confirmed that on the LegacyMods forum a few days ago.  Perhaps they will patch it in the future.  You know, I hate to say it but I think Legacy is a bit amateurish.  Look at the front man, Gary Conti.  He's an associate producer and looks like he just got pubes the other day.  I think this game was rushed, is incomplete, and frankly was managed with people without as much experience as is required to produce such an important game title with such a vaunted franchise.

I would have to agree with this statement Lepton, i dont think i could have put it any better! My god man, i almost fell off my chair you cant be doing that! Nice touch though!

Josh & Cugs.org Issue,

I don't know what happen but iam not a big fan of people that ban others and we dont do this on Trekonline, which iam a lead Admin on i find it unprofessional in my opinion and that someone disagrees with someones view and so therefore they stop it by baning them! It isn't my place to either say it is right or wrong as iam only a member here but iam also a part of the Cugs Staff, STG Staff and Trekonline staff and i think it is wrong and i wanted to give my opinion. As iam only a member of this community i hope i bring a great service to D.Net with my updates on Legacy, Argus Array Podcast by STG, Hailing Freq & ST:O!

I hope this issue gets resolved as we don't need further rifts in the community!

Cheers,

Acidrain
