Anyone ever do a Constelation class Kitbash from the P81 models?
« on: November 21, 2006, 10:26:04 am »
Anyone ever do a Constelation class Kitbash from the P81 models?   I'm looking into adding it the SGO mod as I want to add some X-NCAs.

Thank you  ;D

Do you want a Constellation Class ship, or a kitbash from a Constellation.

I want a Constellation that looks as good as the TMP P81 models if that makes any sense.

I would highly recommend Cleeve's Constellation:

It's low polygon, high quality, and looks consistent with P81's models. :)

I'm also pretty sure that P81 made a Constellation during his time modding for the community.  I seem to remember it having been featured in the GAW mod for SFC3.

My personal opinion though, although the meshes of most P81 models are viable, the textures are severely lacking.  Just my opinion.

But, I am pretty sure that P81 did a Constellation before.

I'm pretty sure that he never did.

The Constellation in GAW was made by Moonraker, a legendary modeler since the days of SFC1.

I know of Moonraker's work very well.  His starbase is still the best one out there for any game.  Even the stock BC base can't compare.

You might be right about the Constellation in the GAW mod being Moonraker's, but I'm pretty sure P81 did a Constellation.

I think you might be confused with a retexture (highly likely) or a kitbash (unlikely) by "Knox1711" who kitbashed a lot of P81's work as well as the work of some other modelers...

But I could be wrong so don't quote me on that; we could be thinking of different models... *shrug*

MP,

I hate to be a critic or a skeptic here, but I think the credits were wrong.  In fact, I believe it may be the retexture I was mentioning (but converted to SFC3).  As I said, Knox1711 used a lot of P81's work, so a newcomer could probably confuse the two as the same person (especially given that Knox1711's name, sans the numbers, is the same as P81's real last name).

Again, I could be wrong here (bad memory always a possibility for me), but... *sigh*

P81 did infact build a Constellation.
P81's
http://www.battleclinic.com/docks/files/dist/index.php/file,919b8c7838990bab4cb72103c69369b2.zip

It's a kitbash made by knox1709(aka knox1711) using Moonraker's Constallation mesh and P81's Miranda textures.  ;)

Do not confuse knox1711(aka knox1709) with Rick Knox(aka Penumonic81).

If it's one thing that MP is known for, is not mistaking who makes what and what's a kitbash and what's not.

Please, people make mistakes. That's not big deal.
MP said it's P81's Constellation, but it's not. This is its readme file:
Quote
The following is Moonraker's Constellation Model.  I did not alter the mesh.  I did do some retexturing, and I alered the textures and hardpoints to work with FCL UI.  Included is a stat file based on statistics from the Daystrom site.  I used some of P81's textures from his excellent FCL.

Enjoy

Knox1709

If you insist that P81 made a Constellation before. Fine. Prove it.

I would even apologize if you can find P81's Constellation, though I doubt that it exists.  8)

Well, actually there're many models showing wrong credits at Battleclinic. The only thing you can believe is the readme file coming with the models. ;)
