Tell us how it goes.

Wow, the visuals are really nice compared to the older game but, what are the game improvments in this version?

I have not really scratched the suface on this game. They have done alot of changes. Just to name a few:

Witches
Heretics
Priests

Those above that I have listed are the main changes.
If you want I will post the readme file.

If you experience any problems please make sure that you have the
latest drivers for your PC installed.

______________________________________________________________________

II. MANUAL ADDENDUM
______________________________________________________________________

-  An additional control option is available for controlling the
camera in battles. Holding down button 4 (not available on all
mouse devices) will allow the player to control their view
directly with the mouse.  While doing this, the cursor will
disappear until the player releases button 4.

-  After printing the packaged Unit Chart, some minor changes were
made to unit statistics in order to improve game balance.  The
correct unit statistics can be found in game.

-  Under the heading 'The Battle Control Panel' there is a reference
to clicking the portrait of your commanding General or Captain
which moves your camera to a position behind the General's unit.
This feature has been replaced with a button of your faction's
flag that highlights the position of all troops on the
battlefield, marking your forces in green, enemy forces in red, and
   allied forces in blue.

-  Under the heading 'Agent Class Characters > Priests / Imams', the
text states that this character type can "perform a heresy trail",
   this should read "heresy trial".

-  Under the heading 'Faction-Specific Buildings', there is a
reference to a faction specific building list appearing under a
"Factions" heading in the manual, this information is now located
   in the in-game building browser.

-  Under the heading 'The Battle Control Panel' the reader is
referred to a section named 'How to Use Groups and
Group Formations', this section does not exist and the reader
should instead refer to the 'Groups' section of the manual.

-  Units that 'Fire by Rank' by default can be made to use standard
volley firing if the player enables skirmishing for that unit.

-  In addition to the instructions in the 'Using Defensive
Fortifications' section of the manual, note that settlement gates
can be captured by the attacking army having more troops on the
wall above the gate than the enemy.

-  Multiplayer 'Historical Battles' have been replaced with two
types of 'ready-to-go' battles: 'Scenarios' - battles that players
can deploy their forces as they wish, and 'Quick Start Battle'-
battles where deployment has already been assigned to the forces
   of all players.

V. VIDEO ISSUES
______________________________________________________________________

Onboard / Motherboard Integrated Video Chipsets

If your system features an onboard graphics solution, ensure that it
is configured to access at least 128MB of system memory.
Certain graphics chipsets are configured to use 64MB by default,
for example, the Intel GMA950, which will prevent Medieval II from
running correctly.  This setting is typically configured via a
motherboard BIOS setting.  Please refer to your hardware manufacturer
or motherboard manual for instructions on configuring this setting.

interrupted and will move on the next piece of advice. To ensure that
you hear all of what the advisor has to say, listen to the advisor
before performing the required actions.

Please note that you will not be able to hear the advice again once
you interrupt it unless you restart the tutorial.

Well for me CA titles are a must to buy,.. i played the whole series.
This one i bought 3 days ago.
ITs to early to say something profound, but if you ever played as kid with knights and had a plastic Knight castle and all that stuff ,you must have this...
I love the antique setting of rome Total war  and i love the knights  and castle scenerys in Medieval.

I dont like the Historical reality,.. it was a sh*tty time especially compared to the times with Waterlines and analogue computers.
And all those stupid religious motivations for war.. go on a crusade ,, invade in the name of islam.. pheew.. Witches... and the Impertinent handling of the Tempelers by the Roman church.

You really can see how the knights and feuds were not more then Mob bosses.

Anyways i love that game, and i will even more  after it got two more patches.

seeing you've played War Hammer,  Have you played Dawn Of War?  I just got the gold edition for X-Mas and I am sold!!  I need to get the Dark Crusade expansion.

I actually got a chance to try out ME2 and I must say, I might have to pick this one up if World in conflict gets delayed.

Yes, it meets the minimum requirements.  I think it may have something to do with the graphics chipset (It uses a Mobile Intel 945 Express chipset).  I have the graphics settings on the lowest possible settings and still nothing happens when I try to load a battle.

That would be the Agincourt scenario wouldn't it?

I love the game, I just wish the grand campaign wasn't so...I don't know what the word is.. it's horribly hard to manage a large empire in the latter part of the game... Spend as much time putting down rebellions as conquering neighbors.. and the AI isn't very good at managing large numbers of towns.

I'm finding I prefer the "short scenario" victory conditions.

Dracho, how did you get 120 Bowmen in a unit?   Mine are limited to 60.

DH, I think that it is through upgrades for the archers, though I could be wrong. :)

Does your laptop meet the minimum requirements?
Yes, it meets the minimum requirements.  I think it may have something to do with the graphics chipset (It uses a Mobile Intel 945 Express chipset).  I have the graphics settings on the lowest possible settings and still nothing happens when I try to load a battle.

The game is Nvidia optimized,..could very well be the case what you are suspecting.

This game runs Excellent in "Medium settings at 1600x1024 on my Sager 3880 laptop (2 GHz Pentium M, 1 GB RAM, Geoforce 6600 Go)

Do English knights just suck?   I need to know if it's me but al they seem to be good for is chasing routed troops.

There is a slider for unit size under the performance options.

The Mounted ones aren't great- the English foot knight upgrade are fantastic ground troops though.
~ Really though, just build archer units with a few guys to stall the enemy long enough for the archers to kill them.

A most vicious army is English longbows or yeomen with set stakes on the frontline, and infantry just behind them to counter-charge enemy footmen.

2-3 units of artillery support, and some light cavalry to run down broken units and you'll have battles more 1-sided than the Gulf War.

The First English army under WIlliam the Conquerer just took Bruges. 1800+ to 800+.

Started over to play the English.

I still have over 1100+ men.
