new forge problem
« on: November 15, 2006, 10:16:22 pm »
After losing my ship in pvp combat (By the way, aside from asking them, is there any way to tell where certain players are so I can avoid getting blown up by them, also is it bad etiquette to run away with my tail in between my legs at the sight of them?) I went to OCI to trade in for an FFRR so I could save some prestige points until I had enough to get what I wanted.  However, when I logged back on the forge was reporting that I had a BBV (no complaints there) but every time I try to log onto a mission now It starts to load, and then I get a mission incomplete, and a defeat message.  Is this the forge, or do I need to do something with my install?

I can't answer the technical stuff, but I can give you a few helpful hints.

There is no way of telling where the other players are unless they tell you.  The markers in the hexes are anonymous.  You might get a little help from watching the News section and seeing which sectors are being attacked by what empire, and by how the ship markers are moving in the hexes around you.  Lots of movement usually means a real player.

There is no shame in running away at the very sight of a real player.  Just type a quick line to let them know you're running away.  The Forge is mostly for fun and very few players mind at all.  However, just to be safe, stay at red alert as you run away.  Some players might want to press the issue and zap you.  Other than that, run away as often as you need to.  I do.

On the forge you can check the OCI  to find out where opposing players are or if you've been on for a few minutes you can check the news. When you drafted us you could have opted out and turned tail no shame at all  in that,we actually thought you were goin to run  but you came fwrd so we thought you didn't care about losing the ship since we got lots o'pp.After that mission I got ghosted.haven't been able to get on since Frey re-booted it for me..keep getting the firewall message. So next time Knightstorm don't worry if ya got to run It's all good "live to fight another day" and all that jazz.It will never be held against you by anybody.Srry bout your BB maybe next time you'll  get my ship. Good luck and good hunting.
I grant you your soul, but not your life.
Be happy that I have found a measure of mercy.

Try selling the BB, and then launching a mission.

Oh, and before you ask, YES you have to buy a ship when you trade in the BB.

Then launch a mission, and see if you still have problems.
