Another Romulan coming to life
« on: November 04, 2006, 05:20:05 pm »
Here is another of Atolm's designs that I am working on.  The textures are not finished but the model is coming along nicely.

Tried a modification to the rear of the ship.  Don't know if I will keep it or not.

I think it looks better without the whole. What time period does this ship belong too? Nacelles make it seem like an older ship.

I think it is a fantastic design, is this TMP era or TNG? It definitely shows his talent. I would say lose the hole, but I would like to hear what Atolm thinks.

I will let Atolm address the era question as I just modeled it based on the image he posted here a while back:

http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163370687.0.html

The hole was my idea.  I thought it looked rather plain so I was trying to see how it would look with a little twist.

Okay..okay...lost the hole.  :-[

How about some taper on the top with some curvature on the ventral side and limit the impulse engine to the top of the wings only?  Like this.

Tus,

Hum...I tried the wings sweeping upward but haven't gotten to the downward look yet.

With those nacelles ........ it looks late TOS to TMP. And I'm not sure I like ANY sweep on the wings. But that's just me  ;)

I say downward definately...It has that subtle slope...you did it just right
The ship is actually supposed to be a TNG CA.  So i guess the Nacelles should be squared off some...or just more ovicular :/ :)

This model looks like it's coming along really well.  The necelles seem to indicate TMP era.  Keep up the good work.

Swept down, me thinks. Looks nice, man.

I had a request... can the wings be lengthened, the back ones too, maybe the bridge and everything else sharpened? Kinda less 'stock', so to speak. Just a thought..

if you lengthen the wings, It'll roll and turn slower. Looks great as-is but I think the engines need to be further apart (something about interferring warp fields if the engines are too close together).

Sorry for late reply (been away from all forums last 2 months)...

Can you taper the edges of all the wings? Not a function thing, but a cool visual.
(Also a upsweeping version would be cool as well  ;D)

Regardless, Atolm/Pepperman can I add that to the 31century Romulan fleet conversions?

Sure there no drag in a vacuum but unless the math is different in the 25th century, mass and inertial forces will change as well as your moment (center of gravity) the further away you move from your balance point.

I personally prefer a little reality in my fantasy games.
