Important notice on BCFiles....
« on: November 01, 2006, 10:56:03 pm »
I would like to post this, as it seems there has been alot of Starforce bashing lately. This post should be seen by all, to show that when cooler heads prevail, he is not as unapproachable or unreasonable as you might think....

We have been forced to remove yet another file from BCFiles. This was not an easy decision, but we feel it had to be done to respect the rights of our patrons and all modders. The files are owned by Omega, a vital member of the community, and we felt this was the only way to address his concerns properly.

In the past, Starforce Productions and those who assist me have ported pretty much any model thrown our way, despite how restrictive the conditions may be with use. It appears we may have to change that policy slightly. There are some modders that have policys so restrictive that changes have to constantly be made to the download, creating a backlog of work for the staff of BCfiles and making it impossible to service other patrons, and prevent me from doing what I do best, bring you more mods.

It is our decision to remove certain files of this nature and avoid others that have unmanageable rights and conditions, out of respect for thier wishes and to limit our workload. That does not mean we will not host nor consider conversion and modding files for those that have limited use conditions, but we will have to decide if we can properly address the modders rights without harming the rest of the community by creating a backlog of work we cannot possibly undertake. We will deal with downloads and conversions on a one by one basis. It only means that we will probably remove (and not choose to convert) files that require constant changes to satisfy the modders rights. This is purely to respect that modders rights and to reduce our workload.

We appreciate the contribution of all modders and recognize thier right to protect thier work. We hope to see great things from all community modders in the future.

Now, this seems like a reasonable post to me. Seems that it would have been best if he has said from the beginning that he was too busy at the moment to make the changes, and perhaps he bacame too defensive. Egos ruled the day in the last thread. It seems that Starforce is not the best at communication, a skill that many in this community are a little rusty on, but I dont feel he should be persecuted over it. Like I mentioned before, he has never had a problem making the numerous changes I need made to Nightsoft properties on BCFiles. I dont think I have EVER posted publically about the changes needed, and if I did, I assumed two important things....he would get to it when he could, and he had no malicious intent when he posted the wrong info.

I just felt this needed to be seen by all. I say we should cut the guy some slack. I certainly dont see how he "does not respect modders wishes", as is often touted in this community. In the end, even Starforce respects every modders right to determine the fate of thier work.
Never let your ego think or act for you..........me.

THANK YOU ATOLM!

How come raven is allowed ot continue the discussion but i am not?

Vote for lock. If im not allowed to request resolution, starforce shouldnt have a chance to excuse himself.
Alternate universe:  Khan was banished for preserving the peace. The Genesis device was really a super weapon and kirk had planned to use it on the klingons. Chekov found the Botany Bay and khan hijakced and killed the evil reliant crew in an effort to destroy the genesis device.    Ahh i love it :D The alternate universe rocks.

This type of stuff shouldn't be handled on the forums.

I'm locking this thread now.
