TOS...enhanced?
« on: October 24, 2006, 11:25:01 am »
I just saw the enhanced version of "Arena", the episode with the gorn in it, with the CGI 1701.

Was anyone else a little underwhelmed by it?  I was expecting something more like the Defiant from "In a Mirror, Darkly".  The new CGI ship looks cheaper than the stock footage of the studio model IMHO.

Personally, I respectfully disagree.

The quality of the visual integrity is superior to the original, but I am a fan in the old train of thought that nothing beats the original, and still feel that way on a great many levels.

I found the CGI NCC-1701 to be very detailed, but that his just me personally.

What I enjoyed however was the Gorn eye blinking effect they put in the episode.  Although it looked strange to see when included in the original footage.
The pen is truly mightier than the sword.  And considerably easier to write with.

Truth be told I usually watch g4TV during Midnight Smack because of the animated shorts with the primates...

Correction: It is Midnight Spank. Sorry for the confusion. :D
