The $14,000 Rotary phone.

AT&T has been fleecing an Ohio widow who's been leasing her black rotary phone since 1964.

The family of Ester Strogen reports she's paid $14,666.40 to rent two rotary phones over the past 42 years, even though AT&T allowed customers to opt out of the leasing option starting in 1985. Strogen's granddaughters realized the problem while helping her with her bills, and wonder how many other elderly are inadvertently paying $29.10 a month to rent phones.

Strogen, 82, now has a push button phone, and some regrets: "I'd like to have my rotary back. I like that better."

Pun, in the early 70s the rotary phone was used. I had a blast using one.

Sniff, I miss it. :'(

Even I remember the old rotary phones.  We used to have one till the late 80s, same with my aunt.  Those things were the best.  Heavy as hell, durable, long lasting.  If you were to throw it against a wall, the wall would break and the phone would still be working.  The phones of today, you accidentally drop them, and they're screwed and beyond repair.

I wonder if AT&T is gonna refund her money.  Hmmm....

Free hell, That cell phone is more trouble then any land line. :D :D  I can at least unplug the land line, With a cell phone, I have to go out and mine the area around the cell towers, Pack support beams with C-4, make sure I'm a safe distance away... Or I guess I could just turn it off.
