Well I won't be buying it until I win a lottery then.  1.7 ghz and lower stuff will keep plugging away with OP.  It's just eye candy anyway isn't it?

Is it just me or is the CPU rather high for such low specs for the vid and memory?

Funny enough a new computer at that specs is rather cheap, above the specs is about 500- 900 bucks.   I'm just happy i went for as future proof as i could get with my rig ;)

Pixel Shader 1.4 List of Cards!

Hello all,

With all the talk about the Pixel Shader 1.4 issue, i have found a listing for all Nvidia and ATI card that can run it.

Nivida is first and the ATI is after the Nivida!

I am sure if you turned down the graphics and disabled a lot of effects in options, most likely the processing requirement goes way down.. 1.8 GHz should be enough at min to moderate graphics :)

Oh i completely agree with both of you, though iam not sure about the CPU specs as it doesnt make much sense since the other two requirements are rather low for everything else.

I don't know guys, those system specs are EXTREMELY high for my newest computer.  Don't you guys think its ironic that SFC OP, a game engine built almost 8 years ago, has probably equal or better gameplay potential and yet an old P3 500 Mhz computer can still easily run the game.

Might be a good purchase on the X-Box, but I will just stick with SFC OP for computer play.  :)

These specs are completely wrong and need to be fixed before theres a bunch of pissed off ST gamers...Min requirements are as follows although most sources agree to play online and at full graphic capabilities you may want to go a bit higher...or it will look like a ST slide show... :P

FYI: If your graphics card does not support pixel shader 1.4, the game probably will not work.

I just recently bought a new ATI1600 AGB card, but If anyone needs my old X800, they are welcome to it. I know it has Pixel Shader 2.0, not the best, but for 256MB , IT'll get the job done. It is a power hog though, so You better have some mega wattage on your system.

my 9550 suits me fine.... the bottleneck is more my CPU than my video card. :)

i think the 5 gyg hd spaces is a bit much, if whe check how much spaces we use for sfc including all the mod we add we still use less space, still its a bit much for it, i might be able to play it but still if i could rent it so i can see how the game is, but to buy it no.

So Chris how does Legacy play?  I have been burned by so many garbage code games lately that I always see what the concensus is before buying.  Fear was one that was a real Royal PITA!  It had bad audio problems but before that they sabotaged it so that if you had ever "HAD" image making software on you machine (Alchohol or Gamedrive) the game wouldn't load and play.  Even if you had removed the programs the game would find elements of them and still not run.  I won't buy another Sierra game just because of it.  Sad because FEAR was really a pretty good game.

Anyway, back on subject, How is Legacy?

The game is a god awful train wreck. I threw it away yesterday.

Its unplayable, frustrating, and flawed to the core. Rules on this forum prohibit me using more descriptive words,to really voice my opinion on this abomination.

I also got the 360 version for Christmas, but haven't played it yet.

Ive got it on the PC and while I CERTAINLY can understand Ravok's frustration, it aint quite as bad as he makes out. My worst complaint is what someone said above, that the controls are fricken impossible, at least on the 360. You keep pushing down on the left stick, which toggles sub-system targeting on and off.

Also, much as Tactical Assault on psp, some of the missions where you have to protect the ai that suddenly becomes Timmy2000 off southpark when he is on your side are frustrating to the max. Coupled with no in game save, that means when you do your oh, I dont know, 148th sub-sub objective during a turn, and the frigate wingman you are protecting dies from the 4 ai cruisers attacking it, you have to start all over.

Still, its fun eye candy and nice models. Worth buying Id say.

I can't understand why you people have all this trouble with the controls.  Hell, if you have a problem simply target with the F button and hit the spacebar and the ship will actually right itself.  In fact the F button control (yes F button ironically) seems to make controls really simple overall, and makes your phasers more maximized (though those who go after using photon torpedoes will have a problem overall since it seems to try to optimize more for phaser use than torpedo use, I don't think torpedo use comes into the equation with the F key in most cases).

Hell, did NO one figure out how the F key perhaps makes this one of the EASIEST games to control in history...and do none of you own a gaming keyboard?

However, without a gaming Keyboard, or an Xbox controller for the PC, I can probably see how someone MIGHT get frustrated over the entire thing, especially with how the mouse works and being cornered into using their set default controls without really being able to change it all around.

I WILL agree with the statement on the missions...some of them are...pure frustration.  I've experienced this WITH ALL of bethesda's ST releases...it seems they cater more to old schooler type thoughts on gaming where you have to play over and over again with no in game save on missions that can be dang hard...made harder because the AI acts so stupid sometimes.

The trick to the controls is to not try to use the mouse and WASD in conjunction, unless you really have a good idea of your bearing.  If you lock a target, it will stay centered on your screen as long as you don't use the mouse.  There is an alternative fire button (ctrl for primary, alt for secondary).  I've found that I rarely even use the mouse except for camera panning and have very little problems with the controls.

Hi All,

I just got an X-Box 360 on Friday and in between blasting the Locust Hordes and exploring Bolivia with Lara, I am feeling the need for some Star Trek action. I know that 'Star Trek Legacy' has not been well received on the PC, but is it okay for the X-Box? The reviews above are... off-putting, as they seem evenly split.

X-Box users, what say you? Yay (and why) or nay (and why)? I want to be informed before I potentially waste $50 to $70 on this.

Any comments gratefully received.

If you are a hardcore startrek fan, it's a MUST buy for the Xbox360.  I find the controls are not hard on the Xbox360 at all.  However, some of the missions can be frustratingly hard...in which I mean, Bethesda must be a fan of the old old games that make you have to figure out some inane puzzle in order to proceed.  Doable, but can get one frustrating.  However it felt like a star trek mission when you were playing the missions, luckily unlike Kirk and Picard, if you get blown up whilst trying to accomplish the mission, or your friends bite the big one, you can always redo it.

It's a decent game even for the casual gamer.  You won't get as big a kick out of finally being able to play the destroyer (as outlined in the Star Trek technical manual for the TOS which only has one nacelle) from the TOS era, or all the ships basically out of the star trek universe available, but it offers decent gameplay and challenging missions.
However, if you aren't a hardcore star trek fan I'd suggest investing in Marvel Ultimate Alliance first or Dead Rising, both GREAT games (though Marvel Ultimate Alliance suffers from the same problem as Legacy as far as some of the end bosses go, I about threw down my controller in frustration on one of them, if it hadn't been my cousins machine I might have smashed the 360 too, but he kept me in check...).
