I will keep this post neutral even though it may be political order to keep it up and provoke thought.

Mostly Sci Fi is a place and time to escape away from our troubles.  Much of our gaming is just that.

Tonight  Battle Star Galactica,...  I must say that it provoked much thought for me, about our current world and political situation.

I cannot help but give credit to show that rather than gives us escape, causes each of us to think a bit more about what is going on in our world today.

I hope this thread and that show will get many reads, as we all sit very comfortably in our command chairs typing away while others live and die in lives very different than ours.

Here Here -

IMHO it's the best drama on TV hands down!  That it provokes thought(fulness) rather than just escape is the hallmark of any good novel or drama....  it stirs a lot of questions to be sure....

Let's bring our people home now!

Without going political...I loved tonight's episode.

One thing I loved the most about it...it let the viewers decide what was right or wrong.  It didn't preach that action X was evil or that it was good.  Characters took BOTH sides of the argument each and every time, and ended without making a moral judgment as being the stance of the show.  The original Star Trek did this, although it was prone to taking a more liberal stance as the 'official' position of the show's characters.  In BSG it gets down and gritty and viewers can decide.

heck, even in my house there was argument between my partner and I about different subjects brought up tonight (can you believe my ultra-liberal Democratic party employee of 14 years actually suggested Starbuck should kill the little girl? I was even horrified at that...perspective.)

I agree the writters really put both sides on the table, it was hard to see "The Good Guys" strapping on suicide belts and being portrayed as Insurgents.  Made me think alot about our world situation and what drives people to such desperate measures.

It also caused a discussion in my home too.

Excellent series indeed.

Oh yeah, loving this thing!!!!!

What surprised me was the amount of freakin' commercials last night.....

Just DL'd it... it is only 44 minutes long... but it was a two hour premiere?

Scratch that... 2 episodes... not one.

Political Correctness is really Political Censorship

The scary part about the show is that most of show's darker events are based on factual history, both past and present.

Dax, in the immortal words of the real Admiral Cain - "Frak you!"

(Sorry, every time I re-watch that episode, I just LOVE that moment when she said that.)

FYI, there's a Spoiler thread from the season now in the Holodeck section of the board.

Not really worth arguing about.

Obviously another follower of "Everything was better when they had disco in space"

Honestly I can watch BSG reruns and Firefly time after time.
Can't even bring myself to watch most of the Star Trek stuff anymore.

One thing though...did anyone notice the base of the raptor, Viper Mark VII, and Colonial One?  It doesn't say Battlestar Galactica!
