Windows Vista RC2 is now available to technical beta testers!

Today, Microsoft is excited to announce the availability of Windows Vista RC2 to Technical Beta Testers, TAP Testers, and MSDN/TechNet subscribers. This new build of Windows Vista offers users a higher level of performance and stability – improving what was established in Windows Vista RC1. We were able to also fix many of your bugs reported from RC1 and implement them for RC2. Thank you to our beta testers for the bugs and feedback you submitted for RC1. The improvement shows as we raised our quality bar even higher!

Since they just let out RC2 how can they possibly meet their planned (office version) ship date of November? Won't testing, stamping and distributing the disks take longer than that?  Even 1st quarter 2007 seems highly unlikely for the retail/home user version.  Unless its only the home users DRM and activation system that is being worked on?

Maybe putting data to disk is the last step in their production process...  *Shrugs*  But then again Vista Windows and Office are two different animals, so they may not be connected at the hip the way some would expect.

When I said the "office version" I meant the business version of Vista not the MS Office software which is a separate issue (whose dates I haven't heard for the next version).  Microsoft has announced that the business version of Vista will be available in November and I haven't heard a restatement of that.  Sorry for the missleading phrasing.

I wasn't even able to really test my copy of Windows Vista RC1 cause my main computer was having all those problems, but from what little I was able to do, I kinda liked the Beta release that was given out before.  Had a little more stability with certain features, such as the desktop configuration tools.

Wonder what RC2 is gonna be like.  Hoping someone else sent a message to Microsoft about some of the same things I observed, since I wasn't able to get my internet working on it at the time.

I had the same problem w/ RC1, it wouldn't install drivers for my ethernet card (it would for my wireless card, go figure).  Heck, it wouldn't even find the hardware when i had it search for it, ended up having to install in manually, and from there i works fine.  I don't use it to much though cause i have seti running over here as well as acting as a server for Wolf:ET.

I expect Vista to work with about as much currently available hardware as XP did when it came out.

That is, about 35%.  I'm currently in the process of acquiring a machine with 98se on it and have 0 plans to ever take it online.
Gonna be a dedicated SFC machine :D
