AF Navy game saturday
« on: October 06, 2006, 08:44:56 am »
Get up fer it folks ;).  I'm thinking we might win this year considering our performance thus far (we took on number 10 in the nation and only lost by a point, almost had it if our two point conversion had gone through).

Of course we started this thing out with a bang this year, had us a spirit dinner followed by "black beard's beer garden".... to say the least i had to much fun last night ;) (not to mention walking back to my room and seeing all the midies who decided staying in the dorms was a good  idea taped to trees and poles)

anyways....

GO AF, SINK NAVY!!!

Do you know if the game being televised nationally?  I might want to watch it as Navy plays Rutgers the following weekend.

There's no better rivalry than Army-Navy, on or off the football field. Air Force was a little late to the dance, which is why the game doesn't have the same lure as the Midshipmen vs. the Black Knights.  ;)

lol, actually it has become more popular than navy army, mainly because for the past few years army has really stunk (last year was a fluke).  In past  years this one has usually been televised on espn, for some reason this year it looks like local stations only, can't tell ya fer sure though.

Depending on the time it kicks off, FSN or ESPN2 might carry it. Even though it's been the most successful football program over the last two decades, AFA doesn't have the tradition of West Point or Annapolis, which is why it tends to get snubbed while Army-Navy has a national TV audience no matter how bad the teams are.

Yeah..reminds me of why I avoided the draft by joining the USAF...

The Army and Marines send thier enlisted into combat with a few officers to command..

The Navy sends the entire ship, planes and all...

The USAF crew chief says "Yessir Cap'n, you bring that plane back, we'll fix it!!"  (We're smart enough to send our officers out to fight)

Tulsa beat Navy in Annapolis this year, which basically tells me that Navy can't have a very good football team this year... because...errr TULSA beat them.

That's like Texas losing to the Rice Owls.

to say the least we were very annoyed.  we really need some new refs, our one fumble was actually a down for us, and the refs ignored our call for a timeout... go figure.  There were also a few other things the refs so kindly ignored for us but usually make sure they call for the other team... the moutain west confernce refs really don't like AF... (ecept no one will believe me till they sit through one of our games).

Outside of the refs being dumb i can't say anything bad about how navy played, it was ok, they just can't pass worth crap (and if our coach had been paying attetion he would have noticed that they can't stop a passing game either.... deberry is an idiot at times)

O well

Wasn't able to watch the game but glad Navy won.  I don't think either team has much of a passing attack, they are 1 and 3 or 4 in the nation in rushing at least.  Navy should win the Commander-in-Chiefs trophy this year.  Hopefully a bowl game.  What I'd really like to see is for them to finally beat ND.

Of the 3 academy teams, AF is the only team that has a passing game.  Our only problem isn't the team but the coach who won't ever utilize it to its potential.  he'd just rather options left, option right, up the middle, punt every game.
