Age of Kings II: The Conquerers

They're running a poll on what your favorite civ is to play at their website:

http://aok.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/aokcgi/display.cgi?action=ct&f=3,36790,0,10

Anyway, I'm still learning the nuances of the game, so I started using the random scenario generator, instead of the campaigns, and picked out civs I hadn't played to get a grasp of the nuances of them. I finally found that I was having the most fun playing the Turks, so I voted for them in the poll. So naturally, some effete snob questions my sanity for actually picking the civ I enjoy playing. Oy vey!

If you do play AoE II, and haven't voted, please do so, as the guy conducting the poll wants at least 50 votes and he's been hanging around the mid-30's for at least a week or so.

Finally, am I crazy, or is there a reason I shouldn't have fun playing the game by playing some uber-civ(it appears the consensus is the Goths) instead of the one that I enjoy playing(Turks, followed by Japanese)?

Age of empires 1 and 2 rocked, after that it tanked. AOE 3 got bad reviews from the people that were loyal to the game.

I love AoE II and I'm still trying to find a new copy of AoE I Gold. I've seen a few on Amazon, but I want to make sure it will run on XP. As for III, I read the reviews here and tried the demo, but didn't care for it.

I love the combat system in Total War so much that I just can't tolerate non-formation movement in the other games.
