Problem with getting shot in a short appendage (like a finger) is that there is not enough area for the blunt trauma of the impact to cause shock and the accompanying numbness.  Thusly, it hurts like a SOB.

Yep and also all the dang nerve endings that are in your finger tips did not help eather.  The funny thing is that I don't remember to much when I was shot in the face. I just happened to walk into a 7-11 during an armed robbery.  I don't remember the sound of the gun firing. My earliest memory from that event was having all sorts of stuff stuck into my face in the Ambulance. I guess that has to do with being in shock, and also having my brain pan rattled a little bit

Well hell, I can understand, and expect that. The worst thing that happened to me, was a confrontation coming out of a Strip bar, back in the early 90's. I got into it with a few guys, and when we stepped outside, A 2x4 came across the front of my Face. It knocked the piss out of me, and I wound up having a mustache, Because the same guy who broke the board, Took a ScrewDriver, and stabbed me in the Front lip.

Years ago, I was a manager for Blockbuster Video out in Muskogee , OK. I got away with calling in well once.

I had called up my district manager, and told him, I just feel to darn good to come to work today. He got such a kick out of it, he let me have the day off to go to a boat show.
