Ah, Mosh Pit with Planet Assault, never again
« on: August 19, 2006, 07:22:15 pm »
It is not my definition of fun trying to do Planet Assault with light cruisers and destroyers, especially when I am drafting an ISC CMP, CVF, etc, etc.  Never, never again.  It was an interesting idea but one relatively difficult and long mission type over and over again isn't my bag.

Psh!  Get on the server and see how much you like it.  Like I said good idea, not fun to me.  That's all

Is it a homeworld assault or a planet assault?

It's doable. 2 droners can do that mission no prob.

Fear the Space Truck!

But seriously, I managed just fine in there phaserboating with an escort ship. A wing helps lots too. The mosh pit in general is an excellent idea and should be feature on all servers that use the disengagment rule and PvP points system if you ask me. It could use a bit of tweaking in the difficulty department (fewer planets perhaps, the Heavy Assault is definitely too hard for solo missions), sure but the concept is an excellent one and I congratulate Dizzy on implementing it.

No one said it wasn't doable.  I said it merely isn't enjoyable and especially not so over and over again.  The repetitiveness of the missions is bad enough, but to get only one mission or seemingly only one mission on those planet hexes, it was really beyond bearing at a point for me.

I hear ya. We definitely went a little too narrow on the mission list for this one. I'm hoping Karnak will manage to fix the timewarping and elusive coop PP bugs in his missions for testing when The Forge goes back up, this will help with variety options on future servers.  Plus, Dave has a bunch of new missions to test out, I think they will be a lot of fun. The Forge has fewer constraints on mission selections though (currently has Stock, ED and TG missions in) as people seem willing to tolerate a few issues here and there on it where they won't on other servers, thus severely limiting the mission selection, which is what you're seeing here.

Getting various missions to play nice with each other on a Dynaverse server is a bit of a black art and is quite tricky, but we'll keep doing our best to try and make most of the players happy. Your input is appreciated and valued.
