i was reading a starlogs and i discover something interesting, you remember nurse chappel from tos?, well she also play the mother of deana in tng, before i read the magazine i would have never notice that

Majel Barret was Number one in the first pilot The Cage, and the voice of the Enterprise computers as well as the roles mentioned.

Not when she started on the show. He was already married to someone else and Majel became "the other woman".

Not when she started on the show. He was already married to someone else and Majel became "the other woman".

He married her in between the second pilot and the start of filming for the series.

Another little factoid, from Roddenberry's memoirs.

After the first pilot, network executives hated the characters for both Number One and Mr. Spock. Gene fought a bit, but eventually they told him that he had to get rid of one of them if he wanted to try for a second pilot.

He wrote: "So I decided to keep Mr. Spock and to marry Majel. After all, I couldn't very well have done it the other way around."
