Map Movement Speed?
« on: August 14, 2006, 12:48:43 pm »
Bit of an odd question here- has the time it takes to move from hex-> hex been adjusted so it's slower than normal?
Curious as I used to be able to pretty much ambush anyone soon as they came out of mission, have found on SG6 that by the time I get into the hex
they're long gone. Haven't even managed to drag anyone.

Anyway just curious as I'm wondering if there's a new server setting (haven't noticed anyone else mention it so I'd assume not, but..) or if
my connection is slower connecting to SG6 than it has been on other servers.

Movement is set to 3 seconds on SG6.

\Assets\ServerProfiles\MetaMap.gf
[Movement]
MovementDelayInMilliseconds=3000

Anything less is just going to place unnecessary stress on the server and cause more problems than it is worth. We are also on a tight bandwidth budget, so you may be seeing an additional delay before the player location information gets to your client.

Can't reach the gas pedal to get your ship going faster?

I understand.

That you take me for a fool!

"tight bandwidth" and "additional delay" are obviously just your way of saying the Alliance has grown so fearful of my hunting skills that they have had this conspiracy set up to prevent me from being able to ambush them.

No wonder my PVP's have not gone entirely as intended.

Still, for one with my tactical (or is it strategic?) acuity I have already devised a solution.
All I have to do is start moving 2999 milliseconds before the aliance player finishes his mission.

Nah. we just like to send one guy in to do a long PvP with you while everyone else takes all the surrounding hexes to make sure you are not going anywhere. Then, everybody sits rock on the surrounding hexes and we do a lottery to see who will "tremble with anticipa...err, I mean, fear" in the event you draft them. ;D

I never realized how much of the server profile was keyed to you ...

From MetaMap.gf
Code: [Select]
AttractionToWeakHexxes=0        // 1 effectively means always attracted
FearEnemyHexxesByStrength=1   // untestable
...
AllowAIToTakeHexxes=0             // set to 0 to give him a chance
...

From MissionMatching.gf
Code: [Select]
// since he needs help everywhere possible
EnemyHexxBonus =100
NeutralHexxBonus =100
...
// Amazing how rarely one looks for Hexx...
LookingForOwnHexxInNeutral =-20000
LookingForOwnHexxInEnemy =-20000
LookingForEnemyHexxInOwn =-20000
LookingForEnemyHexxInAlly =-20000
LookingForAllyHexxInOwn =-20000
LookingForAllyHexxInNeutral =-20000
LookingForAllyHexxInEnemy =-20000
...

So it's untestable because no one ever wants to fight me?
