StrayysTavern does not validate client files, which is why you do not get the error there.

Have you copied StarFleetOP.exe as a shortcut on the desktop and used that shortcut to start the game?

Have you installed OP to multiple locations?

Have you installed the broken Enhancement pack 4?

Does the registry key match the location of the actual copy you are running?

HKLM "SOFTWARE\Taldren\Starfleet Command Orion Pirates" "Directory"

Should that key not be C:\Program Files\Taldren Software Inc.\Starfleet Command Orion Pirates
If that is right then I'm good there.
But one thing I have found is that in the And no I hav not installed the broken Enhancement pack 4.
I have not installed in more then one location
And yes I have copyed it as a short cut to my desk top. Get the same error off the short cut that I get off the EXE file its shelf.
One last thing when I right click on the .exe file and then click on properites then click on the Version tab it says that the version is 2.5.0.0
And yes I run the patch.

Aha. Completely disable that evil trash known as Norton Anti-Virus while installing and patching OP and you should be fine.

EDIT: oh but wait... the patch does not update the version info on the executable, what matters is what shows at the bottom of the splash screen.

Nevertheless, if Norton was running when you installed and patched, then try again without that trojan running.

The registry key I'm talking about is:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Taldren\Starfleet Command Orion Pirates
which contains a string named "Directory" which should contain the path to the copy of OP that you are running (do not modify this entry)

I do not use that Drity word for a Anit Vires. I do use McAffe. I will uninstall disable and reinstall and see what happens.

It is patched to the right version. WHen the game is started it shows in the lower right hand coner 2.5.5.2 I can get in to the Travren but no other servers. Even after installing and patching. I have no idea what is wrong.

http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163369191.0.html
Had to resort to an OS restore...  :-\

Yes it matchs.

And no the OS does not need to be reinstalled. I have installed other games after OP and have not had any problems. OP is the only game that I'm having problems with at this time. I will run a scan disk tonight to see if that fixs the probelm.

You could try downloading a backup copy of the exe and try that:

ftp://www.dynaverse.net/sfc2_op/backup_files/StarFleetOP.zip

The only problem with the Op Enhancement Pack v4 is a broken scripts installer. I figured it out myself. You just need the latest community scripts pack from the dynaverse.net ftp server.

Found the problem... Apparently you will get this error if you run OP in win 98 / ME compatibility mode.
