Mission Log #26
"Sir we have multiple enemy ships on an interecept course" Tactical reported.
"Hmm "I said, and couldn't help but wonder "Why am I always outnumbered when our forces strategically outnumber the
enemy almost 2-1"
"Perhaps because you Never.Fly.With.A.Wing. Sir" My first Officer responded. I theorized at this point that I must have actually
actually asked my question aloud.
Or perhaps, just perhaps it was possible that my first officer was some sort of alien spy? Perhaps had unknowningly slipped up here by answering a question I had only posed in my mind. There she stood. Just looking at me as if waiting for something. Perhaps she found me attracitve? I suppse it would be hard not to, I mean I have been known to .. hmm she seemed to be saying something again, the rest of my bridge crew were also staring at me, .. could they all be aliens?
"ORDERS SIR??"
I sighed inwardly, did they have to bother me with every little detail? "Right. Tactical?"
The Tac officer looked aghast, might be be an aliens as well?
"Profiles haven't changed sir,One Klingon D6d, believe to be pre-refit, One Lyran War Destroyer, power reading would suggest it's a
leader variant"
TWO? Enemy ships? DAmn that was alot.
I was almost certain one couldn't kill me, but two, well.
"ORDERS SIR!!!"
"No need to shout now first" I responded, thn noticed it had come from prety much the entire Bridge crew. Well time to show some leadership.
" Set Hellebores to standard load, increase speed to full impulse, begin to engage ECM, and throw reinforcement to the rear shield"
I wondered is "Hellebore" spelled with an e? Didn't thin so, but I could have sworn it was, hmm have to look that up later.
"We're running sir?" My first officer looked outraged.
So did the crew for that matter.
Perhaps they were all aliens after all..
"Of course not" I cleverly reponded . " I feel it is now time to reveal that we have secret orders from the High Command"
"Secret.Orders..Sir.." She sounded unconvinced.
Damn alien spy telepaths.
"Yes, Command wants to test the acceleration and warp drive abilities of the Lord Bishop class heavy cruiser under combat conditions"
It's like I had a gift, so smooth even an alien telepath couldn't..
"Sir the Lord Bishop cruisers have been in service for over four years, they must have had dozens if not hundreds of combats "
"Yessss.. but, uhmm. well, Ahh yes they haven't had any of them that have been refitted for humans now have they?"
Her answer had to wait as the ship was suddenly jolted by multiple explosions.
Oh right. The battle.
"Return fire "
"Uhm we have been for the last 3 minutes Sir"
"Oh, well carry on then"
Just then I glanced at the tactical display and snickered.
Whoever the Lyran Captain was had engaged his ESG's and clipped the shield of the D6.
What an amatuer.
It really was to bad I had orders, otherwise I could turn and fire and.. hmm those ships were oftly close..
"Launch Fighters!" I commanded. DAmn brave pilots.
"Sir?"
"The fighters, launch them "
"Are we turning to fight sir?"
"Uhmm.."
"Sir, the fighters have been destroyed"
I sighed. Such a tragedy. Still they had slowed down the enemy by a second or two. Definitely worth it.
I wondered how cool it would be to command a carrier
"Approaching warp horizion"
" Perfect, well done everyone, engage warp drive"
The enemy ships fell behind, obviously to stupid to enter warp without much more planning.
Again I had come away having perfectly completed another valuable mission for High Command.
I brielfy comtemplated re-entering the system to destroy the two enemy ships. But decided that it was imperative I personally
deliver the valuable knowledge my pilots had sacrificed their life for.
Plus of course we needed new fighters now.
