Three possible approaches try them in the following order, if one does not work then reverse the changes and proceed to the next, (
though I reccomend option 2):
Before attempting any of these options:
-
Ensure any software firewalls on your PC are disabled (Windows XP firewall, Zonealarm, Kerio, Blackice, etc.. etc..)
- Login to the router
- Click on the "Advanced" tab.
- Click the "Firewall" button on the left.
- Ensure the "Allow to Ping WAN port" checkbox is checked. If not, check it and click apply.
- Click the Zonealarm button on the left.
- Ensure the "ZoneAlarm Pro" option is set to disabled. If not, set it to disabled, and click apply.
1)- Login to the router.
- Click on the "Advanced" tab.
- Click the "Applications" button on the left
- Click "MSN Gaming zone".
- Selec the "Enabled" option at the top
- Click apply.
- Try to login to the Dynaverse. If you still get the firewall message, undo the changes and proceed to option 2.
2)- On the computer you will play OP on, start a command prompt (Start...All Programs...Accessories...Command Prompt)
- Type: "ipconfig /all" (without the quotes) and press return
- Under "Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection" note the "Physical Address" and the "IP Address" (write them down carefully)
- Login to the router.
- Click the "Home" tab.
- Click the "DHCP" button
- Under "Static DHCP" enter a name for the entry (your name or "SFC_Computer"... whatever)
- In the "IP" box type the last three digits of the "IP address" you noted at the command prompt above (the first three numbers should already match)
- In the "MAC Address" boxes enter the "Physical Address" you noted at the command prompt above.
- Click Apply. (your entry should now appear in the "Static DHCP Client List")
- Click the "Advanced Tab".
- Click the "DMZ" button on the left.
- Select "Enabled"
- Enter the the last three digits of the "IP address" you noted at the command prompt above (same number you entered for Static DHCP)
- Click Apply.
- Try to login to the Dynaverse. If you still get the firewall message, undo the changes and proceed to option 3.
- If it does work, just remember to disable the DMZ when you are finished playing to keep your computer secure when left unattended.
3)actually, skip option three, it appears your router does not support port range forwarding, only single port "virtual server entries" or port triggered "Specal Apllications" which is the same as the MSN Gaming Zone application trigger in option 1 above.
It seems that D-Link does not have a full users manual posted for the DI-604E, only a "quick start guide"
I constructed this walk-through from the online emulator:
http://support.dlink.com/emulators/di604_reve/Which is pretty handy for just this sort of thing.
If your router does not have some of the features mentioned or displayed, then you may need to update the firmware. But only do so if your firmware is out of date or if it is really necessary.
The Quickstart guide (useless as it may be), the Firmware download and some FAQs for your router can be found here:
