If you are going to run multiple OP installs do it this way:

http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163365074.0.html

Otherwise, most mod installers will not work. Nor can you be assured the OP itself will work properly. It has a registry setting that refers to the original install location.

I'm getting a bad shiplist and fighter list as well. 6 people were on the server last I checked, but I can't get on.

Are you running multiple OP installs in a non-reccomended way? Need more info here.

Do you actually have the lateset installer? Posted early yesterday evening.

Failing all else have you read the manual installation tip thread?

Playing the latest installment, but it's giving me a bad shiplist and fighterlist when I try to logon.  :carmen:

Have you tried unistalling the SGO6 and installing again with a fresh download just in case yours was corrupted or a prior edition?

Current edition is dated 05/08/2006 8:03 am and 1653kb for the shiplist and 31/07/2006 6:13 pm and 31kb for the figher list.

Again, more info required. Are you running multiple installs? Have you installed the broken Enhancement pack 4? When did you last download the SGO6 installer? Did you read the manual installation tip thread in case you a have an incorrect multiple install setup?

Also, where did you last download the installer from? I'm beginning to wonder if perhaps SkyFlyers host has overwitten the most recent installer I uploaded therre with an out of date backup. (could be possible if that server has suffered a filesystem crash). In which case I'll have to re-upload it to SkyFlyer's host.

Also, when you are running the installer is there a popup message telling you that you must uninstall previous versions of SGO6 in order to install the latest version?

I guess I'll just have to do the 40 minute download from Skyflyer's host to find out if that copy has been overwritten with an out of date backup then. I'll let you know what I find in about an hour after I have downloaded that copy.

Ah wait. I just paused my download from Skyflyers host with stardownloader...

I bet you are using Internet Explorer and do not have it set to check for new versions of files/pages on every visit...

In IE: "Tools" Menu..."Internet Options"..."General Tab"..."Temporary Internet" files frame..."Settings" button...:
under "Check for newer versions of stored pages" select the "Every visit to the page" radio button. Click OK, Apply and OK.

This is a real gotcha with internet explorer, it defaults to not check for new versions of online material. One of the stupidest things I have ever seen MS do.

If that does not do it, clear you browser cache and try again.

I will resume my download test From Slyflyer's host... its at ~60 percent, should be about another 25 minutes till I get it downloaded to check and see if it has been overwritten with an out of date version.

I just logged in on a copy of the installer I just downloaded from SyFlyer's host, so that copy is up to date and has not been overwritten by a host backup.

It getting hard to guess what your issue might be. I really do not have enough information.

I've never had that happen... :S

Next time, tell me and I can send you an md5 checksum of the file.

Is there any site I can get OP+ 4.0 that doesn't take 45 minutes to d/l?

Not that I'm aware of. Sorry about our bandwidth constraints but we're trying to do the best we can with what we have.

(P.S. I'm on 31.2 Kbps dialup myself so even a 6MB file takes over 40 minutes to download - so I feel your pain, trust me.  ;))

You can always just get the stock model copies version as it is only 275 KB it will come down much sooner - you won't be missing much:

Though if you really want the version with models perhaps someone on high speed who has it could upload it to http://www.quicksharing.com/ for you?

Wrong file ding-dong. Thanks though, its the thought that counts. Paladin was looking for OP+4 not SFB-OP-04. ;)

(Which reminds me I must get back to SFB-OP at some point and run a good server with it...)
