I know, or at least knew, the feeling of encountering these models at the most inopportune of times.  Especially when a BB woke up first.  One thing the rework of this mesh has done has gotten me to reload at least one version of this game.  OP.  The SFB'ish Roms may not be the prettiest of ships but I like em for some twisted reason.  I have a redone Lyran BB that I used to play with different style disruptor mounts to get something other than the square pads on the miniatures which were not doubt the result of the basic molds they made.  I think I've decided on a look that simulates the retracted claws of a cat.  They resemble the adamantium claw sockets that Wolverine used to have before Mr. Magnetism himself removed it from W's body.  For those who know of the short ball of fury's history you'll know what I'm talking about.  They look much better than the simple square pads.

Anyway, illumination update.

I love the King Condor. My favorite single player set up is  kill the behemoth. Start with a lone Battleship of a given race. Pretend you have just received orders to kill said batlleship. As intellegence had discovered enemy battleship in route from production yards to unknown destination, an opportunity presents itself. Your task is to deprive the enemy of this expensive and prized addition to the fleet. I really like to fly a Federation space control vs. the King Condor. Not that hard to win. But if it doesn't go well, you die. The key is lots of drones and not wasting the fighters.

Also noted is the surprise reversed scenario. Fun because it can be so tough to win. All depending on the harm one can inflict before they power up. I wished 'The Juggernaut' scenario had made it into SFC. That was fun!

Wait a minute, Rogue!

That somehow rings a bell!  When I get a bit of time, I'll search my SFC-stuff-collections, because I thought I might once have run across some old mission that might have borne that name.  Disclaimer: I could very well be very wrong, but I'll check.  I know there's an old model (Ghost's?) by that name.

You know what I like to do also?  In the basic Hostile Skirmish mission, I set up with medium size planets in the background (John Stone's planet skins from his Spacedock site can really re-jazz the look of your "universe"), late era, set up for three Klingon warships, allowing the range to be from light cruiser to battlecruiser- you get often a different mix of different types of D7's and if you have assigned all the different and truly wonderful TOS D7 models to the different variations in the sfbspc13 file, you really get a visual treat at various times; you see different kinds of D7's, often mixed in with a D6 (once I saw a D5... must have screwed up in my setup that time), and selecting a couple of "tools" from the spacedock after choosing a Starfleet CB.  You can win, but sometimes the game is merciless and you're just cooling spacedust.

I changed the big ringed planet in the Save the Hood scenario to one I bashed from (I won't say kitbashed- that's way too high class for what I did, which was something very easy) different planet meshes and skins- a beautiful, huge, blue, ringed gas giant.  It still makes me blink and panic a bit when I get blinded flying through the expansive ring!  Oh, sometimes I still get smoked in that scenario, too... why the other night... well, it wasn't champagne in San Fran, it was blood wine on Q'onos.

Hmmm, perhaps  First of her kind ? Or maybe that was centered around the first Federation dreadnought? And I share your experience with  Surprise reversed. There is a certain pucker factor when the larger enemy vessels wake early.

I have used the planets you mention and they are excellent. Made that pass through the rings and experienced much the same thing.

To comment on Andurils return to the modeling forum. I'm glad you still enjoy it. I remember you getting a little frustrated with 'the retarded nature' of the forum.  Just glad to see you active again.  I would rather er on the side of being over complementary than critical. I suppose that's why I make too many comments on a forum I am not really contributing to in a meaningful way. Having said that...

Criticism has never bothered me personally.  If someone offers up some I evaluate what they say, take a look at the model and see if it would look better and either make some modifications for not.  It's still my decision.  I had a lot of it when I made the Constitution.  Most of it was wrong since I was staring at pictures of the ship for hours when I made it but I didn't come back and call the people who offered stupid and whine about it.  They believed it to be true so what is the big deal.  It is too bad there are a number of people who become very vocal at the slightest suggestion which they perceive as criticism.  And then the usual "I may just stop modeling" blah blah's start.

This ship, as well as the Franklin will become available in the near future.  Big Fringe things are afoot it's just the afoot is a little slow in the going.

Well, when I first saw this, I thought it was down right ugly. Normally I aint a fan of stuff this old, even feds much before the connie/saladin ect, but I must say it has turned out great with the texture work, and looks great now..

Aw, c'mon...

... even the original, which I am currently using in my Romulan fleet, was pretty good.  Now, those Romulans that had that smoothed out bulbous look, for example, the one that carried the mini-RomBOP's on the outside and ones like it... now, those were ugly.  Brrrrrr....

This will probably be the last update on this ship.  There are a few things like dimming the lights in the windows and putting a little detail in the rear of the warp engines.

First the old and the new.  The new BB is scaled to 400 meters.  It's supposed to be big and bad and I always thought the old one was a little small.  I understand Max a little better now so it's easy to check/correct such things.

And finally a couple ingame shots.  Had to search all around for the 2525 patch.  Did the rumored new OP patch ever come out?  I suppose it's silly for me to ask that question.  At least I still have Firesouls revised shiplist.

I've been having this thought in my head for a while now.

What color is the Sun in the Rom's system.  I realize that TNG had the Warbirds interior lighting as whiteish but why does every race live under a sun of the same color?  They would have you believe that since the lighting is almost always the same.

Would a reddish cast to the windows fit a race that lives under a red sun and see's colors differently?  Hydrans live in Methane, for some reason orange sticks out in my head.  Could their windows show that?

Just thougths as I'm not sure I'd go back and start changing window colors...

Maybe we can ask Clark_Kent, but wasn't Superman born on a world orbiting a red sun?

But did anyone ever see the Big E go to a world orbiting anything other than a white star in TNG?  (TOS may not be of much help here.)  It's been so long I really don't remember.

It won't get misplaced.

It's in orbit awaiting The Galactic Fringe's rebirth.  If that doesn't become a reality fairly soon I'll just post a link.

I must bump this. I was in a fight earlier today with a King Condor and thought to myself how good it would be to have Anduril's updated King Condor. I suspect those textures would be a snap to apply to her smaller cousins.

What news for Galactic Fringe Anduril? And are you still thinking of making that TOS Oberth?

As always, an appreciative fan of your models.

Hi Anduril
Thank you so very much. Your work is much appreciated. Sorry I haven't been in contact with you lately been busy
with RL so I know what you've been talking about. If your still interested in continuing with the Mauler when you have the time I'll try to free up some time  to get some more details down for you. Any way Take care and drop me a line so I don't forget about you and I hope you get to do some more modeling in the near future by the way how did that classic bridge for BC turn out? Fantastic work on all your efforts
